The one magazine I've been reading for over 30 years May 29, 2008 I first started reading my mother's issues when I was a teen. I remember my first ever Gourmet recipe was Dilled Carrots. I am always tempted to try recipes like this by the mouth-watering photography. I also love the articles that take you to a region and sample not only the cuisine, but also the local culture. As I love to travel - and a large part of my travel is sampling local cooking - these articles are my favourite.
My only wish for a better Gourmet is to remove the inserts. Their stiffness makes it difficult to lay my Gourmet flat while exploring a new recipe.
Year long cooking inspiration for super deal January 20, 2008 Already a Gourmet subscriber I choose to renew through Amazon this time which gives me 12 issues for $10! To me Gourmet is one of the best food magazines, besides recipes that always work I love to read the food related travel reports. Photography is among the best, both for the travel articles as the dinner articles.
Thrilled with magazine January 14, 2008 Magazine was gift for my son. He loves this magazine. Well written. Great recipes. Thank you.

Still mourning the loss of gourmet as it once was. January 3, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I first subscribed to Gourmet 30 years ago, and for years was absolutely delighted with the recipes, the articles, the photography, the exotic locations. I still have all my copies, and my children are standing in line to inherit them. the recipes I have used have all been memorable and made over and over again.
Somewhere in the early 2000's Gourmet magazine took a dive for me. I did not renew my subscription. It lost its charm and purpose to infuse one with imagination and delight and became a very ordinary publication. Every now and again I dream that things will change, and that Gourmet is again be the wonderful magazine it was, then I buy a copy but am always disappointed.
OK so we should move with the times, but was there any need to sacrifice a great magazine and water it down and ruin it? I bet there are many like me who miss the old Gourmet and who have also let their subscriptions lapse.
