you can pass it onto your decendants June 10, 2008 this thing will last the rest of my life. even the plastic is sturdy. as with any corer you must make sure it is centered at the start.
Works. A bit wasteful and hard to clean. June 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First, it works, is fun to use, and is a crowd pleaser. If you like slightly silly kitchen gadgets, this will do it for you.
On the down side, you probably get more pineapple out of your pineapple by peeling it with a knife. This tool will often leave a fairly think rind with lots of good fruit still in it.
Also the stainless steel version, at least, is a bit hard to clean. It is made of three riveted-together pieces of steel. It's well constructed, but there are cracks between the pieces that catch bits of pineapple fiber, which need to be picked out before you stick the thing in the dishwasher. I've never seen the plastic version and don't know if it has similar problems.
But, hey, it is fun to use. Enough fun that we've been buying a lot more pineapples than we used to, which is a good thing.
Pineapple slicer Works Great June 1, 2008 I have been using this pineapple slicer for several months and love it -- pineapple cored and sliced easily. Recently purchased a 2nd one for my son.
This is the one to get!! Outstanding! May 27, 2008 I have two other kinds and this one beats them both hands down. Its sharp and easily slices through the pineapple. It also cores the pineapple. Easy cleanup. Just don't cut yourself.

A Marvel! May 22, 2008 If you get a fresh pineapple more than a few times a year, this is definitely worth it. Our family loves pineapple, but I always dreaded cutting it up, even though I got better at it. Now, it's actually fun! Just cut the top off, set the slicer on the top and start turning. It really works great. You don't even have to use much pressure. The hardest part is pulling the pineapple back out of the shell. I cut the pineapple in fourths while it's still on the slicer, then it just falls off in nice chunks. The only potential drawback is that if you had a rather fat pineapple you might end up wasting some of the outermost fruit.
