Simple and effective February 3, 2008 I really enjoy using this mini jar accessory - it is simple yet effective at pureeing baby food and grinding grains, and very easy to clean. Capacity is one cup, with markings on the side. I wish I had purchased two instead of just one.
Get the Mason Jars January 9, 2008 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
The jar fit perfect. It is very useful for grinding small quantities, and that was the main reason for the purchase. But, in just less than a month, the plastic bottom came off. I had to throw it away. May be I just received a defective part. As Bob"Bob" says in his review for this same product, I decided to try out the Mason Jars. And it did fit the requirement very well and were better than these mini jars. Mason jars are made of glass (instead of plastic), and now for the best part: 12 of those mason jars costs around the same as this 1 jar If you are looking for a mini jar accesory for your oster blender, I would highly recommend you to try the mason jars first than this.
use ur emptly pickle jars instead of thowing them! November 27, 2007 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I just tried using an empty pickled cucumber jar...these are similar to the mason jars..and they will last longer than the mini jars...i got two minis already..i hate to think that the plastic that breaks and shreds into micro particles is in the food I am feedin my family...prefer the glass any day! u can use them to grind larger quantities too!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to the other reviewer who pointed this out!!! Simply Amazing!!
Update..Especially for those who Frequent India or Indian Stores here.. We get these chutney jar attachments for oster grinders in INDIAAAA...I was still looking for something sturdier than the glass mason jars..so when I went to India I carried the oster blade attachment with the black bottom thinking I can ask them to make one for me...To my surprise shops were already selling these attachments ..the proper steel chutney jar attachments ...and if they didnt have it in stock they would make one for u...since I had my oster attachment to confirm...I could buy it...but even without it..i dun think it wud be a problem...The only thing is get few extras of the rubber bottom that fits on to the mixer... to attach itself...coz...i was almost upset to see that its wears off a bit when u first run the mixer.....but that happened for me just the first two times..It actually took the right shape of mixers attachment...its doesnt sound inspiring..but believe me.... now the chutney jar works perfectly with my osterizer...I make lotsa coconut chutney and grind whole spices..and this one really stands up the best...I havent had to replace the rubber bottoms as yet..and its been a year since I have been using it....Oster is a very well known brand in India and Vimal is the company that makes these attachmets for oster...Now I Love my oster!!! Hope this helps...u can also try checking with ur Indian store here...mine didnt have any...but u never know.
Ohh and the Steel Jar comes with its own four blades...so thats twice the power..Next time I got to India, I will also get the Big Metal Jar for better or say quicker grinding for my Idli/Dosa Batters which is also available.
Hope this helps all who came looking for the better solution to these mini jars on this page.
Works ok for chopping nuts. November 8, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have an Osterizer Regency blender which I purchased new in 1981. I was thinking about buying a new food processor, but was happy to find necessary attachments for my Osterizer here at Amazon. So I'll continue with the old Osterizer for now.
This mini jar is not glass, it is lightweight plastic, not as sturdy, and I'm not sure you'd want to put really hot (boiled) liquid into it. It worked quite well for chopping nuts. I'd advise pulsating, rather than using the "on" -- also, remove it from the base, shaking it, return to pulsate -- or remove the cap and stir, to move any unground nuts down toward the blades. It fit snugly onto my original Oster blender jar bottom cap (i.e., plastic cap, rubber gasket, and metal blade); but didn't fit quite as snugly on a newer bottom cap which is not made to fit quite as well as the original. The mini jar is a 2-piece item: 8-ounce plastic jar with little handle, plus metal screw-on lid for storage. It'd work well for coffee, and spices, if you have the correct blade on hand, since I don't know if the ice blade would work. Never tried. I'm using the original blender blade.
Awesome...its been very useful September 19, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a sturdy plastic jar, great for dry & wet grinding . Making coconut chutney in small quantity is a breeze. I found that it always needs to be filled three fourth capacity to get good results. Only thing concerns me is its plastic coated metal cap which I think might rust over time..but hoping that this might not happen. Going for a plastic lid jar might be a good idea. Overall a good investment.
