5 out of 5 stars More than worth it!!!!!   December 13, 2008
As a military person, I don't always have space, money or time. This isn't much bigger than a regular toaster and will make your breakfast for you while you are doing other things. Considering how much a similar sandwich would cost you in both calories and money, this has been an indispensable part of my life since I bought it.

3 out of 5 stars Confused by some other reviews...   December 10, 2008

I've had this unit for several months now and like it very much. It makes a great egg muffin breakfast sandwich particularly if you want to make a low fat, low cholesterol version. Just use a yoke-less egg substitute, Canadian bacon, turkey or chicken slices or drained and paper toweled cooked bacon strips (I pre-cook it and freeze the slices) and fat-free cheese slices. There is also pre-cooked sausage patties available, but the fat content is much higher.

I've read several complaints about the muffin toasting... claims that it leaves them hard and dry. The truth is I've experienced similar problems with Thomas' English Muffins. For some reason, over the years, they seem to have become smaller and flatter than they use to be. This makes for a particularly thin half that toasts far too quickly. They don't even look like English muffins any more. If you don't believe me, buy a package of Old Tyme English muffins and compare the two side by side.

I've also read that some have complaints about the poaching pan losing it's coating. I have yet to have this happen. Perhaps they got a bad production run. Maybe cracking real eggs on the edge of the pan is chipping it. I see there is a recommendation to use a fork to swirl the yoke in the pan. Maybe this is scratching the surface. I really have no idea.

I also have not experienced any parts breakage or component failures a few others have. That just might be luck.

Anyhow, I'd recommend the device to a friend.

I can't comment on toasting bagels or hard boiling eggs as I have never tried.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic kitchen appliance   December 6, 2008
This is probably one of the most innovative kitchen appliances I have owned other than a microwave.

My top reasons for getting this product

1) Time - You can make an egg mcmuffin or egg sandwich in a matter of 5 minutes without any mess whatsoever. That's the thing, you want to be able to make something quick without making a mess so you can get to work.

2) Ease of Use - You can simply crack an egg open into the container and put your toast in and your done.

The other thing that's really nice is there is a little container that you put your water in that measures it out perfectly and at the bottom of it is a little tiny point that when you boil eggs (either with this toaster or on your stove) you just poke the egg and the shell shatters practically and it takes 10 seconds to peel an egg. I love that feature and actually just noticed it recently.

This is my 2nd one, my other one died a year ago or so but I think I used it so much it failed but I had no second thoughts on getting a new one.

There is also a meat tray but I don't like using that cause the grease from the sausage can drip onto your egg. I suppose you could use ham and be fine with that.

I most definitely recommend this product and if you don't have one I would get one soon to make life a bit easier.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   December 2, 2008
I was skeptical when I received this as a gift, but my husband and I LOVE it! It beats the drive thru by a long shot for egg muffin sandwiches, and works great for hardboiling eggs. I made sandwiches for my family when they stayed and now they all want one for Christmas. It seems sturdy, too, as I've had it over a year with no problems. I'm not big on gadgets but this one is really worth the cupboard space for the amount of time it saves.

5 out of 5 stars A true value   December 2, 2008
Our complete family is very pleased with this toaster/poacher.

Toaster:
Bread is perfect and even every time.

The Egg Poacher:
This is the part that is a wow factor. I can make a single egg soft to medium in no time and all. Or you can soft to hard boil 4 at a time in the shell in 4 to 6 minutes. Also when you cook eggs can warm up pre-cook meat or fresh fish like salmon. The meat and fish are nicely steamed.

Clean up:
The unit is easy to clean up after cook egg(s) and meat/fish.

Suggestion:
When making eggs and toast at the same time. Let the egg(s) get half done then press cancel. Put you toast, muffin or bagel in and pick combo mode. This will let have these done about same time egg completes.

This is a great gift idea for Christmas. This is one gift that you know family and friends will enjoy getting.

Also look at this product for a great start to your day.
