If you have a whirlpool refrigerator, it will probably say you need to buy a UKF8001AXX filter from the whirlpool website. Don't do that, buy this one instead, it works just the same and costs 40% less.

I haven't used the new filter yet; however, it's the name brand, and Amazon pricing is MUCH more attractive than at BestBuy or any other outlet. Saved about 45%!

I've used these filters for over four years in my refrigerator. I'm the type of person who isn't going to replace a filter unless the water tastes bad, or the dispensing rate slows to a trickle. It actually took about 3 1/2 years of usage to slow to a trickle, and I replaced. The second name-brand filter started to slow down only after 10 months. Sure they both lasted longer than the manufacturer recommendation, but I would have like to see a longer lasting replacement filter for the cheap-o's like myself!
