Awesome and so easy to use! September 3, 2008 It took a couple bottles of wine to get the hang of it but I love this thing! It's lightweight, compact, and even though it seems too lightweight and not sturdy enough to handle the job, it does with ease. I never bother cutting the foil and this thing breaks the foil and pulls the cork out with no problem. The plastic is tough and I've been using it for several months now with no problems. Turn it one way to dig into the cork and pull it out, then turn it the other way to release the cork from the screw.
The only downside is that when you release the screw from the cork, the cork sometimes gets kind of stuck/wedged in the unit and you have to mess with it a little to get it out. Not a big deal.
The whole thing is actually 3 separate pieces: the guide unit that attaches to the bottle, the screw and the handle. The screw just sits in the unit loosely and the handle attaches to the top and extends when in use. When not in use for storage, the handle retracts and fits around the bottom of the screw and inside the unit as in the photo.
I love this beast! August 19, 2008 I opened the package without looking at the instructions. I had no idea what to do at first. This is different from the standard corkscrew I'm used to but I'm a manly man and I don't need no stinking instructions ( I said to myself in a growling Spanish accent). Instinctively I knew what to do. Nothing would stop me. I wanted that bottle of 2005 Kendall Jackson Grand Reserve Pinot Noir and this baby wanted to open it. It guided my hands in a way that was strange but felt so natural. The bottle was opened in seconds. The wine was mine for the taking ... and I took it. Now I find myself trying to write this review. This honestly was the easiest cork puller I've ever used. It looks weird but it really works. I feel it should last. Certainly longer than this case of Pinot Noir. The Screwpull has a 5 year guarantee. Thank you Mr. Jackson and thank you Screwpull. Now back to my case of Pinot Noir.
LOVE IT August 7, 2008 This product is great! I have actually had my original one for ten years. So easy to use. I now purchase them for my friends.
Great Corkscrew June 22, 2008 This is just a superb corkscrew. Seems to last forever. Never fails to remove a cork. Easy to use. Take it on a trip. Only need to buy a new one when I misplace or loose it.
Can't remember when I've owned anything else that comes close.
Worth the money June 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used to use a waiter's corkscrew until it bent out of shape. When it did, I started looking around for a new one. A friend recommended this to me and I'm glad he did. It makes pulling the cork very easy. I can't promise ease of use for everybody; but compared to the traditional waiter's version, this requires no effort at all. All I do is twist. This twisting action pushes the metal down into the cork and also brings it back up with the cork in its grasp. I can't speak to its durability over the long term. If it does die, I plan on buying another, because I enjoy using it that much.
