Slick as a whistle March 18, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Over time, we've all tried many different types of corkscrews. Some work a whole lot better than others. And this is one that works very well.
Once the screw bites into the cork fully, the levers when pushed down normally bring the cork right up. Sometimes, if a body is not careful and if the cork is very dry, part of the cork may stay in the bottle. But this corkscrew, from my experience, can retrieve the potential mess most of the time under such circumstances if one use a deft touch.
In short, this is a good purchase to consider. Simple to operate and very dependable.
Works like a charm November 2, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
My old corkscrew of 25 year use fell on the floor and broke. I was so happy to find a model on Amazon which was almost an exact replacement for the old one, and shipping was so fast, I had it before I needed to open the next bottle of wine. Works like a charm.
Functional opener and helps to avoid splitting a cork. November 30, 2005 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I found the Pedrini double lever opener to be a good buy. There are many others which look similar, but look closer. The Pedrini has a true wound-metal screw while many others only give you a die-cast screw. The difference is important as the die-cast style has a thick solid center to the screw, so it must displace more cork while turning thus increasing the effort and the risk of cork splitting. The diecast screw is also not nearly as strong as the wound-metal and can crack and break; it is also heavier. It is a good value, a good manufacturer and a good choice.
Basic, Just as Described August 3, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This corkscrew gets the job done. It is comfortable to use and not a lot of force is required to remove the cork. However, I have had some problems with the cork breaking, even on more expensive wine bottles.
Spend your money on wine September 27, 2004 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
This corkscrew is inexpensive. Spend the money you saved on a nice bottle of wine.
The idea here is pretty simple. Screw in the corkscrew, pull down on the handles. Thus the cork is removed and the wine can be poured. It's not rocket science. Simple and effective.
Oh, and it's dishwasher safe.
