4 out of 5 stars Great solution for leftover wine   January 11, 2008
I'm the only wine drinker in our house, thus one bottle can last a week. I've tried various methods of "preserving" an open bottle, but this one is the best.

The large decanter holds about 12 ounces and the smaller holds 6 ounces. To date, I've kept wine up to a week in these containers with no degradation to its taste or bouquet.

The only issue is that the glass stoppers are not a perfect fit. To compensate, I pour the wine to the about 1/4-1/2 inch from the top of the decanter and then drop the stopper in. A little wine will overflow, but the combination of the glass directly touching the liquid creates a decent seal.

3 out of 5 stars Good concept, mediocre execution   July 11, 2006

I must admit that I've been looking for such a product for quite some time. It is certainly better than the 'pump' type of air evacuators, but not much. It's definitely not worth $50!

Pros:
* Small size
* Will protect wine from oxidation for some time, although not indefinitely.

Cons:
* The vessel looks like low quality window glass, with numerous bubble, ripples, occlusions, and even dirty on the inside. My water glasses look like much higher quality glass.
* No airtight seal (their sealing method is glass-to-ground glass)
* Now that I've considered it, using the cork pin seems rediculous. A used cork is stained with wine, fractured from the puller. It's not something I need (I remember what wine I put in there), and I don't want to look at and ugle used cork hanging around the jar.

5 out of 5 stars Great products and excellent customer service   January 31, 2005

My order arrived in a timely fashion as promised however when I opened the carefully packed box the glass funnel in my `Wine For Later Decanter Set' was broke.

A quick email to The Wine Enthusiast Co.'s customer service rep, Cheryl Nadler, and two days later a complete replacement `Wine For Later Decanter Set' was delivered to my door step.

Now I have no excuse not to open two bottles of wine `for later'!!

Great products and excellent customer service.

5 out of 5 stars Wine For Later Works!   November 15, 2004

I have been using my Wine for Later set for over a year and recommend it highly.
I can open a bottle, drink one glass, and the wine I transfer to the carafes keep indefinitely! It works much better than the vacuum stoppers I previously used.

1 out of 5 stars Fine Product, but Packed to Break in Shipping / Transit   April 26, 2004

I ordered this product. Unfortunately, the company didn't tape the cork pin (metal) down when packing. So it broke one of the decanters. I asked very nicely if they could tape the pin down when sending a replacement. Unfortunately, they refuse to tape it down so it doesn't break the fragile merchandise.

It looked like a nice, useful product. (Beyond the fact that it continued to arrive broken.) Perhaps if one could pick it up in person ... ??? They did take it back for a refund (less 2-way shipping charges).

Shipped by Wine Enthusiast (not Amazon.com --> who would no doubt fix a structural problem for a customer)
