3 out of 5 stars Strong, but....   September 14, 2007
It's powerful, but I'm giving it a 3/5 because the pull up "switch" for turning off the oscillation falls down and causes the thing to start oscillating unpleasantly every time you touch the fan.

2 out of 5 stars Way too loud   August 23, 2007
I bought this fan for my office, and it's way too loud. I'm returning it today for something quieter.

3 out of 5 stars strong breeze but loud   August 14, 2007
This fan does a great job of circulating air and cooling a room, but anything other than the lowest setting is pretty darn loud. I ended up returning it, but I do think it's a good fan.

1 out of 5 stars Junk, junk, junk.   July 18, 2007

Lousy junk. The fan sounds like it would burn at any time, and the motor doesn't run at all three speeds. Get a Vornado 610.

A table fan should be felt and not heard.
A little sound from the whirring of blades can be comforting. Motor noise, on the other hand, is very different, very unpleasant, and actually quite unnecessary. Whether it is the motor on a $10 product or a $1,000 product, manufacturers seem to have an aversion to putting a little inexpensive vibration/sound absorbing material around the motor housing. Go figure.

I do have one tabletop air circulator (Vornado) that is tolerable on the lowest speed thanks to a square of egg crate foam I set it on - a little fan whirring but almost no motor noise.
