 best hard cheese grater you can buy March 5, 2008
I love my Microplane zester! It has earned its stellar reputation. On lemons and ginger it zests smoothly and without tearing up the fruit underneath. It turns hard cheeses into piles of fluffy shavings with minimal effort. Also, because of the handle and design, I've never injured myself with this grater -- a miracle in and of itself! However, it does not work well on soft cheese.

Excellent, excellent, excellent grater/zester. Soooooooo easy to use. Even my husband can "operate" it and likes to grate the cheese. I also have the very small grater which I use only for nutmeg and which I like very much. Wonderful kitchen gadgets!
A must have in your kitchen January 1, 2008
This is the only microplane that you need in your kitchen. it grates PERFECTLY every time - from nutmeg to citrus zest. I don't know how i survived with out it. Actually, this purchase was for my family member. My brother and I are avid amature culinarists. We were concocting in my kitchen one day when he tried out my microplaner and fell in love with it. We were both used to using a zester or a fine grater previously, and this FAR surpasses those tools.

This microplane can be used for everything, zest, grate cheese, and you feel very safe with this big, comfortable handle, we have other ones with no grip..... very scary. They are soooo sharp!!
