Terrible! March 22, 2003 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I just threw away my copy of this cookbook after yet another disgusting dish. The pictures are pretty but that's about it. All the other negative reviews have summed it up. Do not buy this book. It was a great disappointment!
WORST COOKBOOK I HAVE EVER BOUGHT! February 11, 2003 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
If I were allowed to give this book a lower rating, I would. I have been cooking and collecting recipes since 1965, so I am not a novice at this. The seasonings, and sometimes the textures of the food in this book are so awful, they are hard to describe. For instance, there are two recipes for muffins in this book. The first one, Spicey Bran Muffins, is so overloaded with cloves and ginger, that, after the first bite, you are left with such a bitter and rancid aftertaste that you do not want any more! The second recipe, Oatmeal Muffins, also has the spices overwhelming and out of balance, even if you do go to the trouble of squeezing your own orange juice, which I did. What really gets you on this one is how nasty the texture is. It is really indescribable and bad.If Oprah really ate this stuff, it is no wonder she lost weight. It gave me a stomach ache and ruined my appetite! If Rosie was cooking this stuff because Oprah likes it, Okay for her, but if she was cooking it because she thinks it is good, then shame on her. As a professional, she should know better! It is one thing to eat healthy and well..It is another thing to eat garbage and call it a diet. PS The "unfried chicken" is decent, but there are dozens of recipes for this posted for free on the Internet. The one recipe is no good reason to spend money on this very bad book!
Enjoyed the more gourmet style of recipes November 8, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I enjoyed this little book. While it is not one if you are looking for a great quanity of recipes, it does have many different recipes in it. The recipes seem to shoot for the folks that like a little gourmet flavor to their recipes. They have a wonderful asparagus salad with blue cheese, pasta with white clam sauce, and all sorts of delicious pizzas. Recipes include nutritional value, this book is not particularly friend to Weight Watchers because they offer no fiber counts. All in all I bet that many can find several good recipes out of this book.
Not worth your time............. June 7, 2002 9 out of 14 found this review helpful
Io had heard great things about this small cookbook, but was let down. It offers very few recipes all of which range from bland to unappetizing. I also found very little variety.Cooking should be fun- this book amkes it more of a chore with too many ingrdeients- some of whish are pricey and hard to find! Cookbooks usually inspire me to try lots of new things, but not this one!
good recipes May 24, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Their are some really good recipes in here. Yes some of them take a while to prepare and cook, but the finished product is worth it. I also really liked that they were healthy foods.
