still working after 10 years! January 30, 2008 I recieved this book as a highschool graduation gift in 1996. It was used often at my first apartment and after I got married. My mom taught me a lot about cooking, but as the title emplys she was a long distance call away. I am still using this book today. One of the most helpful sections Is an extensive list of substitutions for those times when you are 1/2 way through a recipe and are missing something. It has saved MANY quick trips to the store thus $$$. Also added bonus, sections on medical info and treatment, basic car and bicycle repair, as well as cleaning and laundry tips. There are also blank pages to add you're own receipes. I am buying this for my neice's highschool graduation and will add some of her favorite receipes of mine. What a great gift idea for any grad.
Where's Mom Now that I Need Her? January 18, 2008 This is the BEST book for Graduation Gifts! Full of tips for cooking, cleaning along with recipes and great advice from Mom. I sell Longaberger and include it in every Graduation Gift Basket. They also sell "Where's Dad now that I Need Him." This one is similar but would show you how to change oil, a flat tire, etc.
You're Never Too Old to Need Mom! November 4, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am almost 50, and still use this book all the time for all kinds of nagging questions -- how DO I hard-boil an egg properly? A must for every child leaving hme and for every adult how ever had a mother!
Great for any age! October 2, 2007 This is meant to be a survival guide for living on your own for the first time, but I assure you that it is much, much more. This book is useful for people of any age, even if you've been paying the rent for more years than you'd like to admit.
Everything from the expected info on nutrition and cooking (including microwaving real meals), shopping tips, getting stains out of laundry and a how-to on car repair thrown in for good measure.
I don't know about you, but Mom sure never told me how to recognize the symptoms of STD's, but it's in here, along with millions of other cool and useful things.
Buy it!
Perfect graduation present May 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a must have for high school graduates going off to college or moving away from home. We have given away a dozen copies since we gave our daughters a copy when they went off to college. Every one loved it and our girls still use theirs even though they are now married.
