PERFECT!!! September 15, 2008 I love this book!! Great variety... quick recipes... organized by season so you are using the best of the best... Perfect for the working cook who comes home and sits wondering "hmm... what should i make..."
I also love how these recipes are so easy to build on... Create your own varaiations on her recipies.. get inspired! I love it!
Heavenly!! September 13, 2008 Now, this is no exaggeration... I tried 1 of the recipes a few days ago (pg. 74 - linguine and turkey sausage), took a taste and had an instant smile on my face that I couldn't get rid of. I couldn't believe what I had cooked and how great it tasted! Prior to this book, my recipe scope was so limited and I was growing tired of the same ol', same old. I love that the recipes are not complicated. You read the recipe and you think you know what the dish is going to taste like. Then "POW", your taste buds are awakened! It's always that unexpected ingredient or that extra step that makes the difference with the dishes. Plus, you use everyday ingredients. I never have to run out to the store to buy some far-fetched ingredient that I'll never use again. A lot of the recipes call for the same stuff. I love this book! I'd recommend it to anyone, any day.
Great cookbook, even for someone on a gluten free diet September 10, 2008 After picking up a few issues of Everyday Food at the store and loving them, I came across this cookbook. Not only is there a photo of EVERY recipe in the book, it's also just a well-designed, beautiful book all around. I'll be honest, it's hard for me to motivate myself to make something if I can't see a photo of it. Cookbooks without photos have always annoyed me. But I have a feeling that's because I'm a photographer myself.
Oh yeah, and in addition to the lovely photos, the recipes are great. I bought this shortly after I was diagnosed with celiac disease and had to begin a gluten free diet. While there are obviously dessert and pasta recipes in the book that do contain flour, I still find myself using the cookbook enough to make it worthwhile. It contains lots of fairly simple recipes, made with fresh, whole foods. And is also arranged by season, which is helpful.
I love the soup recipes in this cookbook. While there aren't a ton of vegetarian or vegan recipes included, my vegetarian friend and I made quite a few of these soups last winter and loved them. We just used vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
Can anyone else recommend some other equally great cookbooks, that also include photos of EVERY recipe?
The Best Book! September 8, 2008 I love this book. A picture of every recipe, simple everyday ingredients and awesome food. Absolutely everything in this book is easy and tasty. And everyone that I've servced a meal to raves about my cooking - how great is that!?
Great Book September 2, 2008 This book has easy to follow recipes. The food is great. I just don't like that's separated into seasons and not food categories.
