Not the best Barefoot Contessa Book May 12, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have all of the Barefoot Contessa books. This is a good cookbook, I love her style, good food, simple recipies. My favourites though, are the Barefoot in Paris and Barefoot Contessa Family style. I just didn't find enough usable recipies in this one for my taste.
Easy, "Can't Fail", Impressive Recipes May 7, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been watching the Food Network now for several years. What I've observed about Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, is that her recipes usually receive a 5 star rating from Food Network's website. I have yet to be disappointed with any of her recipes that I have prepared. It is so nice to have a compilation of her "go to" recipes simply arranged by type of food (appetizers to desserts). She is unselfish in sharing tips that were acquired during her twenty years of owning and operating an acclaimed specialty food store in the Hamptons. I highly recommend this book ... it is a wonderful collection of dependable classics.
Loved by a Chef April 28, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my sister's birthday, she is a MAJOR cooking person. She loves to cook, especially things that are different. She loved this book, and has since made some DANG GOOD food with it.
Fantastic! April 17, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After watching her show for a number of years, I decided to try one of her books. Fantastic is the only word to describe the visual array of recipes. They all look good enough to eat just sitting on the page.
Then I made some of them to accolades from family and friends. There wasn't a single one of her dishes that didn't go over well. And I have small kids.
I can't recommend this book enough. Everyone should have a copy in their kitchen.
A delectable cookbook for the senses & the tastebuds! April 15, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been a fan of Ina Garten since watching her Barefoot Contessa cooking show on the Food Netwrok. The recipes in this book are amazing, truly a feast for the senses, and are relatively easy to prepare, even for a non-gourmet cook like me. The dishes are accompanied by beautiful pictures, and what always impresses me about Ina's presentation is her down-to-earth manner, even in writing. I love her philosophy of entertaining, in that it need not be a cumbersome chore, but rather, something to take in stride , with the recipes being made ahead, and hence leaving plenty of time for the host/hostess to mingle with their guests. This cookbook is a refreshing breath of fresh air in the field of cookbooks for entertaining, and a winner from the ever delightful Ina!
