Must have in your collection August 22, 2006 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
No kidding... by far the best chocolate chip cookie I have ever tasted (sorry grammie!) You will not regret picking up this cookbook with easy to follow instructions and fabulous tasty recipes. My daughter and I have really enjoyed baking in the kitchen together and sharing our treats with friends and family. A MUST for anyone who enjoys baking.
Yummy! April 18, 2006 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Do you love goodies? Well, I love bakery goodies that are way better than homemade...and not the ones that taste like shortening was the biggest ingredient. This book includes the best recipes from the previously released book, Southhampton's Favorite Bakery for Homestyle Cookies, Cakes, Pies, Muffins, and Breads.
Included are such recipes as Mocha Pecan Muffins, Apricot Ginger Scones, Sour Cream Pound Cake, Fruited Biscotti, Simple Lemon Wafers, Magic Bars, White Chocolate Brownies, Creme de Menthe Pie, Apple Cake, and Lime Mousse Cake.
I loved the easy-to-make recipes, and the beautiful format of the book. The only thing holding me back from a 5 star rating was that I was disappointed that the book did not include a picture of each recipe. Otherwise, this is a great book for bakers and those who love homemade goodies. Enjoy!
Fantastic book January 8, 2006 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
For someone who isn't privy to her first book, this book is fantastic. For someone who has eaten the Tate's chocolate chip cookie - this recipe in the book tastes exactly the same - although with my oven I have to cook the cookies about 13 1/2 minutes to obtain the "crispy" cookie like the Tate cookie. I followed her instructions to the letter, didn't overmix, used my Silpat - and they are amazing. I had only one small cookie because I'm low carbing - but this morning - there are only a few left - meaning my husband and son ate them up! Great book - highly recommend.

This book is not written by Ina Garten she only wrote the forward. It is a great book, especially the Molten Chocolate cakes and the chocolate chip cake that you can cut into squares. These are the only 2 items I tried. Mary
Don't Expect Bakery Quality Treats September 13, 2005 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
Having had the delicious chocolate chip cookies from Tate's Bake Shop, I was thrilled to finally have the recipe! As soon as I recieved the book I made the cookies. Let me tell you, they are OK, but taste nothing like the cookies from the bakery. Also, some ingredients are clearly left out of some of the recipes (ex pecan cookies don't list pecans as one of the ingredients). I am giving 3 stars in the hopes that some of the other recipes fair better than the cookies.
