YUMMMMMM March 24, 2002 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Great book at a great price. I have made the blueberry lemon, raisin bran & orange poppy seed scones. I put the delicious topping from the blueberry lemon on all of them. YUMMY!! They were all easy to make. I look forward to making more varieties. This is a must have for anyone who loves scones.
Perfect scones! February 6, 2002 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
I've made about 10 of the recipes out of this book, and each one came out perfectly. If you've only experienced dry-as-sawdust "scones" at trendy coffee shops, but this book and be pleasantly surprised at what scones are REALLY like. Some of the scones are beyond rich (like the Brownie Scones), but every batch I've tried so far from this book has turned out buttery, tender, and utterly irresistable. Try the Classic Cream Scones first and then go from there.
A must-have for scone lovers! September 14, 2001 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
I searched high and low for a book on scones, and finally found this one a few years ago. Since then, it has been used frequently. I have tried many of the recipes in it, and without exception have found them to be delicious. The book also contains recipes for spreads you can use on scones. I would highly recommend it for anyone who loves scones.
It's divine! May 20, 2001 5 out of 12 found this review helpful
I love this recipe book. It's not seemingly "just" a recipe book, you see. Scones are like a really heavenly thing, it's what souffle was many decades ago. If the work on the flour was not optimal, the middle would still be a little soggy. Just like if someone slammed the door the souffle would fall. So I would say I've done two scones recipes here, one of the the 'basic' recipe with currants (half raisins, for the poor of pocket) and the one that's called the Fishermanscone (Florence) which I just think is cool. Eating a scone is much better than staring at one. Keep this one thing in mind. Then you can just enjoy them all from your own kitchen.
So good I bought 2 more copies as gifts April 20, 1999 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
We found this treasure in our public library and decided to purchase it. It is so good that I am buying 2 more copies to give as gifts. A must have if you like Scones!
