Cake baking made easy July 16, 2008 I enjoy baking cakes. This book, and The Cake Doctor have delicious and easy recipes using the box mix. Highly recommended.
LOVE IT! June 17, 2008 If you have ever had a chocolate cake, the recipe for it is probably in here. Not made from scratch, but from a cake mix, but still just as good. All of the recipes I had tried have been wonderful; and so simple!
Too many repeats/variations counting as new recipes! April 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the cakes made from these cake mix doctor books, but it seems like the author really needed to pad this book out to come up with 150 recipes. The "Moist Chocolate Cake" is the same recipe as the "Perfect Chocolate Cake" except that it calls for one less egg. It is also exactly the same as the "Chocolate Sour Cream Cupcakes" -- she counts the layer cake version as one recipe and the cupcake version as a separate recipe! Why not just print the basic recipe and all the variations for different baking pans? She also does this double counting for Chocolate Banana Cake/Cupcakes, "Chocolate-Orange Cream Cheese Pound Cake" is the same as "Chocolate Cream Cheese Pound Cake" with the addition of a little orange juice, etc. It's annoying! I wish she would have just produced a shorter book written more concisely.
Really good cakes April 18, 2008 This is my favorite book for cakes. The plain "Cake Mix Doctor" does not have that many chocolate cake recipes. This one does. I have tried many cakes from this and they are amazing in taste and easy to make. Only thing I don't like about CMD is that she puts too much alcohol. I have to constantly use substitutes which is a pain. I wish she'd put alternatives in the book itself so I don't have to look up a substitute each time I try a new recipe.
Yummy! May 11, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just found this book and I am very impressed! I've made two cakes and they were both hits! The pumpkin w/choc chips and moist chocolate cake. In addition, there are basic bundt cakes frosting recipes that are easy and delicious! If you like chocolate, you'll love this book! Some great and easy recipes! Both for beginners and advanced bakers!
