5 out of 5 stars awesome!   August 30, 2008
The pictures are amazing. You have to already know what your doing because there isn't a whole lot of instruction. The ideas are sensational, and fairly easy to accomplish good results.

4 out of 5 stars Cute, doable cakes   May 31, 2008
The cakes in this book are cute, cute, cute. You'll be making up excuses to create them! The cake recipe included in the book is also great for carved cakes. It's very easy to shape and you can just brush the crumbs away without the cake tearing or chunking. As I mentioned in my review of Hot Cakes, the only downfall is that everything is fondant (sugarpaste). This may not be an issue for some of you, but I like to use buttercream whenever possible.

5 out of 5 stars Easy and Fun!   April 15, 2008
This book is awesome! Nice pictures, easy instructions and just ADORABLE cakes! I can't wait for someone to ask me to make some more of these! Fun, fun, FUN!

4 out of 5 stars Time Consuming but Worth It   August 6, 2007

I have never made any type of cake like this before and decided to try it after looking at this book. I made the fairy toadstool cake which you can see on the back cover (and my picture above). I guess this was my "neurotic mom" birthday project! I was planning an enchanted woodland fairy party for my daughter's 4th birthday and couldn't find any other cakes that I liked. I found that I needed a lot of tools and materials before I could start, so the preparation took some time. All of the instructions were very clear though and I just followed them step by step. It took me a few nights to finish it and everyone was really impressed. The cake itself did not taste that great but I just added ice cream and everyone was happy.

This book has loads of great ideas for beautiful birthday cakes. I haven't tried making one yet so I don't know if they're easy. But I will surely be using one of the ideas for my 2 year olds up and coming birthday.
