5 out of 5 stars Entertaining Romance   August 3, 2006

There were definitely some awesome genes going on in this family to have both daughers being lesbians. Actually, two of my friends come from families like this so it can happen, but their parents aren't gay....or are they?

Anyway, Herring writes a humorous, realistic, romance. If you take out some of the strange stuff, it is a fantastic read. I've read it three times since I bought it. It brings a smile to my face.

5 out of 5 stars Joyous & lovely upbeat romance with passion and humor throughout   July 12, 2006
I loved the story and the writing is terrific. The plot and the characters are so life like that at the end I could perfectly imagine this story happening to people I know.

The author writes wonderfully romantic, passionate, erotic love scenes that always either move the story forward or are used to highlight the relationship of the characters.

There is so much to this novel that you will want to read it again and again.

Elaine & Cheryl have tremendous depth and character. Elaine's occasional commentary to herself are a joy and reflect much of her character. I loved how Cheryl pulled herself up, brushed herself off and didn't allow Mickey's cavalier treatment of her and their life to blind her to other options. Mickey is central to the story and makes key appearances. People fawn over her and are drawn to her magnetism and beauty. She has suffered as a recently recovering alcoholic and these things help you understand what led Cheryl to her.

I loved the parents, Blanche & Phoebe - they have a delightful loving rapport with each other. Blanche is the proud parent and Phoebe is the wise parent. Their dynamic is very familiar in loving homes. Elaine's friend Maxine and her new love Betina are laugh out loud fun. When Maxine has a talking to with Tom it is succinct & memorable and she garnered my complete admiration.

Maxine & Betina are featured in the author's excellent novel 'White Lace and Promises'.

4 out of 5 stars In a Nutshell...   May 10, 2005

This book is typical Herring... Hot, hot, hot sex scenes; totally unbelievable story; great characters with depth... and so much more.

It IS a stretch to think a lesbian has two daughters who both turn out to be lesbians - one is thoughtful and righteous, the other is selfish and a player. It IS NOT a stretch that both daughters would be in love with the same woman. It IS a stretch that that woman would fall in love with both sisters (not at the same time of course... that would be too much!). It IS NOT a stretch that hot sex like this DOES happen (okay, maybe it IS, but it's a book!).

Great for an afternoon lounging around with a glass of wine and a plate of cheese and crackers. Try it... Share it with a friend... It might spice up your love life!

5 out of 5 stars Those Who Wait   February 5, 2003

When this author titled the book it was as if she was re-writing the meaning of "Good things come to those who wait". I am sure everyone has heard that term but she makes you beleive that you are right there - in the room with the charcters. It was as if they invited you to be there with them to watch and critique the book. This author has a great talent of the art of writing that makes you actually forget where you are and who you are for those moments, and thrusts you wholeheartedly into the scene of the book at that time. It has been a long time since an author has gotten my attention like this one has. I hope she continues to write such breath taking novels. It is truly an artist at work.

3 out of 5 stars Lollypop for the brain but don't expect War and Peace   August 10, 2001

This story is a fun read and totally unbelieveable. Which is fine. If we didn't want a little escape, we wouldn't read books. Don't expect any big surprises because you won't get any. The characters are sketched out but still fun to read about. The erotic scenes are hot. Still not much to grab onto. Did I mention that it was totally predictable?
