Very pleased!! Great price too!! January 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Since I have become legally blind books that are in "large print" have become an integral part of my life in how I live and communicate with others. Not to mention there are always a few words that I forget how to spell every now and then!!! This is a great dictionary for anyone even those who have good vision!! Thanks Webster!!

I am pleased with this book I just wish it had more words in it. I love the large print and the size of the book itself. It arrived in record time as everything I've ever ordered from Amazon has.
Culturally Biased and Missing Some Basic Words September 5, 2007 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
There are quite a few basic words missing from this dictionary, and there's a definite slant toward Judao-Christian representation. I guess it's not a big deal, but you would hope a dictionary would be more objective. For example Yom Kippur and Good Friday are defined, but not Ramadan? Strange. Good book all-in-all, but it would be nice if it represented a wider cross-section of cultures and words (I needed to find the spelling for 'incontinent', and it wasn't listed?!) - especially as a learning tool.
Wordless dictionary. June 1, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Easy to read. Too many words/definitions are absent. The definitions that do appear are simplistic at best. If you need a good dictionary, look elsewhere. There are plenty.
Five Stars for Webster Dictionary February 7, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After looking at summaries of "children's" dictionaries on the web, I realized that buying one of them for my 10-year old grandnephew, a very bright little boy, wasn't going to get him the tool he needs. Those dictionaries seem to be for little kids, and he's beyond that description.
What I needed was a book he could use for reference, but since his home environment isn't one where seeking information is the first option, I wanted it to be an easy thing, a casual thing for him to be able to look up a word. He's being raised in a loving home, but there are no reference books and he doesn't have access to a library or the internet.
When I came across the large-print dictionary and saw that it is meant to provide easy reference, I had a feeling that having the book might be one solution to this child's need for information. As it happens, it's exactly what he needed, and he happily looks up words he comes across for which he knows no definition.
This version of a Merriam-Webster dictionary satisfies many needs, and I was happy to discover that it put another resource in the hands of one very smart little boy as he learns more about the world in which he lives.
