 Best Event Planning Book Available November 20, 2008
Finding a book on planning an event other than a wedding was a challenge. I was pleasantly surprised to find this information in the Beautiful Weddings & Event books. Even though this book has detailed information on weddings, it had information on other social events, which makes it a fantastic read. This book is now in my library to be used over and over again. Using the helpful ideas and lists, my events turn out to be hits. Thank you for your insite and expertise on event planning. I have given it as a gift to my daughter-in-law and she raves how it has helped her. She did an anniversary party for her parents and with directions from this book, she did a fantastic job. It helped her find a facility, hire professionals and list the details that had to be addressed. Great job.

This book was worthless. I agree with the reviewer who said it was nothing more than a condensed version of the Yellow Pages for wedding vendors in the Sonoma and Napa areas. There were more ads than information and what was there was not organized well. I don't think they used an editor because there were a great deal of mistakes (I know this may not bother many people but when you spend money on a book, you shouldn't feel like you're reading a rough draft). I found many more locations just by using search engines and we ended up using a great resort that wasn't listed in the book. The only thing that I found it useful for was seeing if locations I found on the internet that just so happened to be in the book had in-house catering and how many guests they could accommodate, but I wouldn't trust that that information is accurate.

If this is ANYTHING like the last edition, this book was about as helpful as the yellow pages and a few brief articles on wedding planning. The information was spotty and incomplete for many locations and there weren't that many locations. I believe that sites had to pay to get in the book. If not, the author is just not very thorough. There are many, many great sites not listed.

Dear Judith Rivers-Moore,I am writing to let you know how indispensable your book Beautiful Weddings & Events Sonoma~Napa Wine Country has been so far in my wedding planning Process. One of your listed clergy, Lili Freitas of Weddings of the Heart, donated me a copy of your book when I expressed frustration in finding a reasonably priced wedding locale. Your locations grid in the back of the book, conveniently arranged by county and city and expected cost, helped me narrow my focus. Since choosing a location, I have continued to use all other sections of your book as I iron out the remaining details of the wedding. What I appreciate most about your book is the comprehensiveness. All aspects of a wedding are addressed, from operating on an Alternative Budget to Etiquette Concerns and Political Correctness. In addition, your book has all the answers to questions I was unsure about like table Seating and the Toast. It has been an excellent springboard for ideas like the Unity Candle Ceremony. The most useful part of the book has been the Basics or the Hiring Process where you delineate the general questions needing to be answered by prospective vendors. I have already contacted many of your advertised musical talents and wedding cake specialists. My only misgiving is the book doesn't cover Marin County where we chose to have our wedding. The location Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marin, offers beautiful views of the surrounding areas, has a lovely courtyard and is well equipped with kitchen and several spare rooms, inside for staging a special event such as our wedding Regardless, I want to extend my gratitude to you for publishing such a wonderful resource for the wedding planning process.
