5 out of 5 stars All the information you need to get started   September 13, 2008
I truly appreciate this book. I did not get it as a kit. Just the book. The recipes were easy and effective. Some make it harder than it has to be! I used this book and a bottle and tip set to get started. I used Beachcomber's packets of henna. I followed the recipes in the book and had great results. I'm looking forward to practicing more of the beautiful, intriguing designs!
I also like the facts that were presented about natural healing properties of henna and some of its historical uses. It also gives you recipes to use to color your hair, condition your nails, and get rid of headaches.
Some of the various traditions of henna are also covered in this book. There is actually a lot packed into this little book. I like that.

5 out of 5 stars Love it!   October 6, 2007
I purchased a used version for 1.29, so it did not come with the supplies. This book has a lot of information about how to prepare the skin, how to mix different ingredients for different effects, detailed step-by-step designs, with explanations of how and why for everything. It breaks things down to simplicity, without losing any important iformation.

Don't worry, this is not one of those books that takes up too much time and space with fairytales, myths, or pictures. The book includes all of these in a way that will help you instead of just being added to make the book thicker. You're going to learn from this book.

4 out of 5 stars Not too bad...   July 27, 2003

The book gets points for presentation, it is pretty and the photographs were excellent to use for examples. Honestly though, if you are looking for the basics of Henna I would just recommend going online and doing research there. There are tons of knowledgable people out there with their own sites. I didn't really learn anything from this book that I couldn't have found online. Use toothpicks to apply your henna (it takes longer but I think it's less messy than cones) and make sure you put STRONG black tea in your mixture.

4 out of 5 stars Good, but short.   May 15, 2002
Having read about everything I can get my hands on about henna and mehndi, I found this book to be well written, and an informitive begining for the novice henna enthuisist. I would not recomend it for those who are more interested in learning designs and techniques.
