I have used this book forever. After being asked numerous times for recipes by my Daughter, I purchase this for her. She loves it. I consider it THE essential cook book.

I was disappointed with the scant main dish recipes in this book, not only that, they were kind of 'out there', not what I'd expect from Betty. Granted the ring binder is convenient, I just thought it could have covered a lot more territory. Might be good for a new cook but overall I prefer my old, dog eared copy of the original my Mom gave me when I moved out years ago... I vote pass.

If you are looking to buy your first cookbook, this is it! It's comprehensive (all home-cooking recipes is here), easy to read (they also show pictures, not just texts), easy to use (binder edition), easy to follow, surely worth the price. A must-have cookbook for beginners, indeed.

This book is perfect for cooks in the know and for cooks who are just starting. Lots of good basic recipes and lots of information. Love this cookbook.
