The Shack January 6, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a deeply moving book that brings hope to anyone suffering the lose of someone. Even knowing that the premise is a fictional interpretation of some of the characters, it gives a sense of knowing that the real ones have the same qualities only on a more divine level. We have all lost someone at some point in our lives, and though we may have gone through our grief we can find comfort knowing that they are in a much better place and in a much more comfortable condition. This is a book I will lend out and pick up and read again and again if for no other reason but the comfort it provides. I highly recommend it!!!!
Remember, it's fiction! January 6, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
THE SHACK was highly recommended and also forbidden by good friends of mine. I read it and found it quite thought-provoking. I am thrilled that it has such a wide audience and hopeful that it will stimulate conversation about the spiritual aspects. The most important thing to remember throughout the text, I believe, is that it was written as fiction and not as theology. It gives food for thought and discussion with Christians and non-Christians alike. It would be interesting to compare the theology of THE SHACK with the truths of THE BIBLE. Maybe in Mr. Young's next book??
Interesting and Confused January 6, 2009 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Wow!! Very unusual in every way. Awful subject--losing a child. The lead in and entire book made me somewhat uncomfortable as it is such a drastic departure from "conventional" stories of faith and outreach. Very imaginative throughout, but really does stretch one's ability to relate to the message. BEJ

GREAT READ! EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS BOOK! I BOUGHT A BUNCH OF THEM FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS.
Great book for everyone January 6, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book "The Shack," is a wonderful piece of fiction that will challenge all our preconceived ideas of who God is, that are not based on Scripture, and will encourage you to seek Him long after you have finished reading it. We gave this book away to our family and friends for Christmas (I think 15 copies!) and so far everyone has thoroughly enjoyed reading it. A good gift for both believers and non-believers in Jesus Christ. It is one of the few books that I have ever read that spans the gap between those two types of individuals. Enjoy the journey!
