A Must Have Cookbook for Every Busy Cook February 29, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My husband, though very active and a healthy weight, was diagnosed with type II diabetes about 5 years ago. This cookbook has been a Godsend for me. He has a sweet tooth and is also sort of a "meat and potatoes" kind of guy. This cookbook is full of delicious recipes that satisfy his appetites, the recipes are easy to fix and best of all, the ingredients are readily available no matter where you live. I also love the spiral binding that allows the book to lay flat. Even if you're not a diabetic but just want to watch your carb/sugar intake or are looking for a more healthy way to eat then this is a wonderful addition to your cookbook library. I use mine at least once a week.
Great Cookbook February 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I gave this to my Mom as a gift and she just loves it. She said the recipes are great and she doesn't feel like she's on a diabetic diet when she uses the recipes in this cookbook. My Mom is new to crockpot cooking and she absolutely loves this cookbook.
I looked thru this cookbook before I gave it to her and I copied down numerous recipes. They all tasted great.
Family and budget friendly January 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I learned the hard way to check out cookbooks from the library to try before buying them. I've renewed this one so often, I have to buy it! Many diabetic cookbooks are filled with recipes that, while quite nutritious, have "cuisine" ingredients that are beyond the food budgets of many families. This cookbook is a good mix of recipes, not outrageously expensive to prepare. Even the children will eat this food without crying. I agree with another reviewer that it would help to have serving sizes delineated. Otherwise, I have already recommended this cookbook to diabetic relatives and friends.
great help to the spouse of a diabetic December 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this book for a friend who is a diabetic controlling her diabetes by diet until she fractured her leg. This now meant she could not stand to make healthy meals and her sugar numbers were in jeopardy of going up due to inactivity. Her husband had no idea how to make quick easy meals that would be good for her and safe for her diabetes. This book was a godsend to her husband to have easy recipes that can cook while he is at work and ensure that she remains well during the recovery process. I would highly recommend this book.
