Lots of variety and REALLY yummy December 20, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This cookbook is my favorite. There are lots of recipes that are really easy and really tasty - the pot stickers are awesome. I like that I don't have to skim through the book to find something relatively healthy - they all are, but you would never know it once you tasted the recipes! I highly reccomend for anyone.
A must have cookbook September 30, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Of all the cookbooks I own, this is the one that I would recommend to someone looking for a new cookbook. This book has many photos (at least one every other page) and every recipe has prep time, total time and the nutritional analysis. Throughout the book there are step-by-step how to techniques with pictures. The book starts with a daily nutrition guide and kitchen basics including essential kitchen tools, pantry items and herbs (with pictures). At the end of the book there is a glossary of terms followed by metric equivalents and a substitution list. Buy this one. You'll be glad you did.
Just got the book August 4, 2004 4 out of 12 found this review helpful
I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but I've looked through the book and they all sound good and easy to make. However, for a book that costs 35 bucks, I was a little disappointed to find that there were very few pictures of the recipes. Not that it takes away recipe quality, but I'm one of those cooks that likes to see what I'm about to create.
I expected more pictures for a book that costs as much as it does.
Brilliant! July 31, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had this book for only a couple of weeks, and it's already become a staple. As some other reviewers have commented, the recipes are not as low in fat and calories as those in some other "healthy" cookbooks (for that, I recommend the Weight Watchers series), but it's great as an all-round cookbook for the health/weight conscious. Best of all, there are recipes for foods I thought I could never eat again... like spannakopita and baklava. Proof that you can eat well and stay slim!
Lowfat...Maximum Flavor...Tastebud Sensation April 5, 2004 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
This cookbook is not just meat and potatoes. It's herbs, spices and vegetables galore. It has incredible appeal for vegetarians and die hard meat eaters. I have never owned a cookbook like this.My husband recently lost 25 lbs. on the Dr. Phil plan. I will not say diet, as we have attained a new lifestyle of eating. I had a hard time converting favorite recipes into lowfat consciencious meals. Magically, I was turned on to this cookbook and I haven't stepped out of the kitchen since. My family looks forward to meals with eager anticipation of my cuilinary triumphs. I, in turn, can't wait to create. I sit with this book in my lap every evening and begin meal planning for the next day. For those of you who love to entertain, your guests will go crazy when you tell them they're eating from Cooking Light. Every morsel from appetizers to dessert will have them salivating. We had company last night that started with Tex-Mex Bean Dip, followed by Multi-Grain Vegetable Burrito with Tomatoe Basil Salad. Dessert topped it off with Maple Carmel Flan. My girlfriend went home and ordered this cookbook. I have been a gourmet cook for years, and I can't sing praises loud enough. This book will teach you about portion sizes, calorie intake, as well as the breakdown of fiber, sugar, and carbohydrates. Cut out the old supersizing and bring in the flavor.
