Recipie book April 17, 2008 This looks like a good book with a lot of recipies but it was a little disapointing. I was hoping to get some healthier stuff out of it. Instead I think I got one recipie for French Toast. And that was it. I do like the idea......
Practical for today's living with Kids January 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have given this recipe book 5 stars simply as it's an outstanding collection of practical and easy to use recipes for family eating. It also contains tips for cooking with kids, cute stories of what other moms go through and tips for family time and entertaining. I found it extremely easy to use and also quite inspirational! The recipes may not be the absolute healthiest around, but they form a base for ideas and I have modified a few to better fit my family and lifestyle. It's great for entertaining as well - or for those times we are asked to take food over to a neighbor or group member who is ill or just had a baby. The cinnamon monkey bread has become a firm favorite with husband and kids on weekends when we have a 'treat' breakfast! I use this book in conjunction with Feeding the Kids - this gives a healthier outlook on eating and feeding a family that is practical and realistic too. I think the two books compliment each other very well with focusing on healthier eating and then a myriad offering of recipes that can be conformed based on where you are with moving towards better food choices.
mediocre January 4, 2008 recipes in this book seem higher in fat and higher in sugar that I feel are recommended for healthy eating.
high on carbs and starches.
i have not used much from this book -as i prefer to feed healthier versions of foods to my kids.
Not as good as expected May 12, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was hoping for some new recipes but the book had mainly just the basics by a different name.
Wonderful cookbook! January 14, 2007 I actually bought this cookbook for my new daughter-in-law. I have had one myself for years and it is my favorite of all my cookbooks. I have given it as a gift to several other friends over the years as well. It has recipes that are easy to follow, made from ingredients I have in my kitchen, and the results are the kinds of dishes my family loves. I highly recommend it if you are looking for down-to-earth recipes for family favorites!
