Would recommend this for anyone considering the ACT July 7, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'd have to recommend this book. Remember to practice for this test!
Essentially, the test breaks down into having to answer every question within a 30second time span (they give you about 30min divided by 60questions per test, essentially). On top of that, they make the questions a paragraph long and/or make you need to re-read the question after reading the answers. This all equates to not having enough time (hence their instructions say to "fill in all answers regardless").
Unfortunately, I got this book right before my test date, so it was of little use to me. However, I can see how it would have helped my test scores - I definitely was not prepared for the time-issue on this test as I'm a quick reader/test-taker. I can't help but say it, but it's almost set up so you have to buy this "official" book (hence they get 4 stars instead of 5).
So be prepared and do all three tests in this book multiple times, it'll help!
ACT book EXCELLENT May 2, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
The Real ACT book is one of the best books of its kind. I teach SAT and ACT prep, and this book not only is well formatted with REAL ACT problems (by the test-makers), but the book gives the fullest explanations of the correct and incorrect answers that I have ever seen. I'm using it exclusively in my classes. Parents looking to help their kids get prepared should buy NO OTHER BOOK.

Great resource March 16, 2008 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I'm a college student and I coordinate an ACT tutoring program for the inner-city high schools and we purchased 5 copies of this book. So far, it's been a very good resource. I felt that the best way to prepare for the ACT exam is to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE -- so we just work through problems from the exams and go over the answers. And this book comes with 3 REAL ACT EXAMS! PERFECT for what we're doing. :D
Best practice tests February 8, 2008 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Not the best review or test taking tips; ACT is not going to give too much away. The value of this book is in the three practice tests it contains. There is no substitute for practicing on the real thing. Answers and detailed explanations are included.
Same book as 1st edition!!!! January 26, 2008 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
Please note that this book is exactly the same as the 1st edition. So if you can find the 1st edition cheaper go for it.
If you can't find the first edition, then get this one bacuse it is well worth the price. This book has 3 tests (though they are a bit dated- I was hoping for an updated set of tests, but meh-no biggie), answers and explanations. While the tests are valuable, the explanations make the book cheap, since with CB's book (Official SAT Study Guide) you need to buy the Onlone Course for explanations ($70)or buy some guy's (who no one knows) solution manual here on Amazon.
In conclusion, great prep book for the ACT, and the SAT sux vag.
