Escape From the Fowler's Snare December 31, 2002 Karen Strand's book gives hope to parents who despair over a child taking drugs. The author's extraordinary faith demonstrates that even seemingly "hopeless" drug users can be saved. The book is well written and suspenseful. It should be in the hands of every parent.
There is Hope July 13, 2001 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good news, mother! There is hope, father! If you are despairing over your child's entrapment in the drug culture, you must read this book. Karen Strand has bared her soul to share the gripping true story of "Escape From the Fowler's Snare." In so doing, she reminds us all -- in a new and powerful way -- that "God is on our side."
Escape from the Fowler's Snare April 13, 2001 This captivating book is a powerful portrayal of the far-reaching effects of a mother's prayers. As a registered nurse with a background in psychiatric nursing, I have witnessed firsthand the personal and family pain author Karen Strand and her loved ones endured as her son entered the terrorizing spiral of drugs and evil. But never have I felt such incredible hope in the midst of despair. This annoited book will point hurting families to the One Who brings new life in the midst of formidable darkness.
Much-needed, clearly-written book April 10, 2001 "Escape from the Fowler's Snare" is a book that had to be published. It fills a gap in parenting in today's world where "good" kids can too easily get lost in a dark "new" age. Karen Strand, a superb writer of conversational narrative, takes you on her journey as she watches two of her children move into the satanic underworld-- and beyond. The years of anguish over her son Jay, who moved into insanity from his bout with satanism, her willingness to seek God at every turn, and her faith that her children would indeed be freed "from the fowler's snare" will encourage the heart of anyone who loves someone who seems beyond redemption. Karen's book would be great for parents of preteens to read, for high school group discussions and for parents and grandparents struggling to understand and cope with seemingly mentally ill teens. Karen was one of 15 of 6,500 applicants to attend the Guideposts Writer's Workshop in 1994. This gives you clear indication of her ability to pen narrative. She is widely published in Christian periodicals. I highly recommend her book.
