Cookbook January 14, 2008 A little advanced for the inexperienced cook--we'd have liked a more user-friendly book for someone learning how to cook. The scientific explanations are awesome; the overall layout is divided up for easy reference. Recommended.
You can't go wrong with Alton! January 8, 2008 Alton Brown is great no matter what medium. Television or books or whatever. This cookbook is no exception. I got it for my husband because he loves to watch "Good Eats" and is always trying out Alton's recipes. He got it for Christmas and has already done quite a few recipes from it. He loves it! It's easy to follow and has a lot of fun, scientific information along with it. He says it's the best cookbook we'll ever have and the last one we'll ever need. :)
My wife loves it! January 7, 2008 We're both big fans of Alton's show, and this book was on her Christmas list. So far, in her words, it is, "A complete, easy-to-read, entertaining, educational kitchen tool." I've browsed it a bit and look forward to reading it myself once she's finished.
Alton Brown December 30, 2007 Alton Brown's series is the only one I watch on TV. He goes into the history of food, the science behind what he creates and the best tools for the job. This is a great book for the new chef or anyone wanting to know more about how food works and why. Highly recommended.
As always December 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As always Alton Brown delivers with an incredible book, including helpful refrigerator magnets for deciphering cuts of meat. There is a lot of information in this book and a lot of delicious recipes. A must have for those who like to cook in the kitchen and understand why things are done a certain way.
