This book reads like a fun science book, great for short attention spans and novice cooks like me. Fun, light-hearted, and educational. great background info for why people do what they do when they cook. Highly recommended--very different from other cookbooks.

This book is like having Alton's show's notes in my hands! I love it! There's info here on so many foods and ingredients and cooking methods... Not exactly a recipe book, but not a textbook either. The best part is that the book and its notes are written in A.B.'s usual humorous, conversational tone. Definately worth it!!!
