Good but not what I expected October 14, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
KitchenAid KP26M1XMR Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Meringue I think it has less power than the 5 quart we were using. The splatter guard is very flimsy. Yes, it holds 12 cups of flour but barely holds enough liquid for the batter we make. It appears that it does not mix in as many places as the 5 quart did, probably due to the fact that the bowl is wider. Also it seems to be more difficult to take the beater attachement off while the bowl is under it.
Love this Machine October 12, 2008 This is a wonderful product to have in your home if you love to cook. I am a baker myself and find I can make enough dough for 6-7 loaves of bread. I mash potato's whip cream make bread dough, batters, you name it. It does not disappoint.
Kitchen Aid 6 Quart Stand Mixer October 12, 2008 I brought this mixer for my daughter I have the same one.....she fell in love with it on a recent visit.SO I DECIDED TO GET HER ONE. She has 4 chidren at home under the age 11 She uses it almost everyday...........I HOPE SHE HAS MANY YEARS OF ENJOYMENT . Between both of us.....we are discovering it's many uses. Thank You KitchenAid for such a awesome mixer.
Cheap Design, Motor Controller Flawed October 11, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Like another reviewer stated, this mixer has the power, but Kitchenaid cheaped out on the design of the supporting components. I use my mixer at least once per week to make bread, marshmellows, etc etc. In the 2 years I have had this mixer, I have now burned out 2 motor controllers (at a cost of $130 a piece to replace!!!)
Right off the bat, I noticed that the mixing bowl actually flexes when your making a batch of bread. That's right, it flexes and distorts and sometimes comes in contact with the mixing paddle. Like some other reviewers, I also noticed metals shavings during my first few batches of dough (watch out).
This mixer strains under loads that it simply should handle. It overheats very quickly (5 minutes of mixing is all it takes).
And the worst part (no, not the plastic gear box), is that their thermal protection circuitry is flawed. The mixer simply fries itself if you run it for more than 7 or 8 minutes at a time. By "fry", it literally cooks one of the chips on the internal motor control board. KitchenAid will charge your repair man about $70 for that board, and he'll ding you labor on top of that.
If you are looking for a high quality mixer that has plenty of power and can provide you with a lifetime of service, I recommend looking elsewhere or buying an older model or a smaller model
If you are looking for a pretty piece of equipment to show off in your kitchen, then this "professional" model is built for you. Good luck with your decision, as I'm regretting mine.
Satisfied! October 10, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Honestly, I ordered this Kitchenaid mixer for a daughter for Xmas, so it is hidden away, and I have not used it. I know, however, that it will be great and she will love it! You can't get a better mixer, as far as I'm concerned. I am a long-time Kitchenaid mixer user, but am jealous of this great new model for my daughter. The price was great - thanks Amazon! I keep seeing lesser models for more money (plus tax!) in sale flyers and each time I do, I feel even better! Great product, great price, great service!
