An awesome value!! November 29, 2008 You can easily spend up to three times what this Nashbar Townie Basket costs and you won't get anything better! Imagine, at this price AND to get a hidden rain cover, too? This is a well-made and awesomely-priced Townie Basket! I love it!
Unbelievable value November 23, 2008 There is no better value in simple grocery panniers. Trust me, I have looked at them all and for what I wanted them for (grocery shopping and errands to the post office, etc) they are perfect. Sturdy, simple and with thoughtful touches like collapsable side panels and a stowable reflective rain cover. If you are looking for a commuter office bag or touring panniers, spend the money and buy Ortlieb bags. I anticipate having these for many years, and for such a low price I will be getting two more for my wife.
Bike Nashbar Townie July 14, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My local bike shops only carry clunky metal baskets for bikes, while more elaborate panniers cost much more. After some research, I decided to try Bike Nashbar's Townie basket. Despite its incredibly low price (lower now than when I bought it just a month or so ago), this is a very well-designed bag. It hooks onto a bike rack easily and stays secure during riding. I've used it for grocery shopping--a pair of them held all my groceries and yet remained balanced as I rode. Bike Nashbar even supplies, in a hidden zipper pocket, a rain cover--a nice added touch. I highly recommend the Townie. These bags make it easier to replace a car with a bike for local trips.
This is a very useful addition for any commuter bicycle. August 29, 2005 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
When I started biking to work, I immediately bought a pair of these. They were well worth it. Rather than trying to balance everything on my person or stuff everything into a backpack, I can just throw it into the pannier. It's large enough to fit an entire bag of groceries, yet it collapses to keep it out of the way if you don't need it.
The snaps that create a rigid border are a little finicky, but otherwise it works as expected.
