5 out of 5 stars There is a GOOD reason behind the handle's design!   January 6, 2009
I have owned two of these spatulas for years --- purchased in Germany and brought back with me to the US --- read that again YEARS, and I cook regularly with them. The only reason they died is that they accidentally were cut with knives. The metal handle is design wisdom, and here is why: if you leave the spatula in a pan/pot that is on live burner, it rests ON THE HANDLE. With a metal handle, it will not melt. And a metal handle with this design does not heat up as a solid metal handle would (it does heat, but is more localized to where it is touching the pan, so the entire handle is not going to be hot after a minute or two). For anyone who cooks and prefers spatulas, you really should try these! (Hopefully these are made by the same company as the ones I bought in Germany, but I have no way to tell. I am about to order them though as my last one just died. So I will let you know if they are not up to par.)

5 out of 5 stars Super Silicone Scrapper   December 28, 2008
Love this KaiserFlex Silicone spatula. It holds up under extreme heat and the handle stays cool. Great in the dishwasher without damage. Easy to hold even for those with arthritis. I used it all through the Christmas baking season and it was wonderful. I have used silicone spatulas for a long time and this by far is the best.

2 out of 5 stars Poor Handle   February 25, 2008

I am not a cook. But, if I think poorly enough of this handle with limited (infrequent) use, I would think that someone that uses it frequently will find it even more inconvenient and a poor design. Basically, the spatula has a good weight and works fine (therefore not a 1 star), but holding on to the handle requires effort (effort mainly as thought because it is not easy to put your thumb on the handle). I don't know how everybody holds on to their spatula. But, my thumb goes on the handle. This design puts a large hole/empty space where my thumb would normally go.

Think of it this way, if your thumb normally puts pressure on the flat part of the handle, there would be a space there. You would have to hold it more like a hammer for it to be acceptable to use. I only bought this because I am a prime member (free shipping) and that it was <1 dollar at that time. If I had tried it out, I probably would not buy it at even that price because of the handle.

4 out of 5 stars ...handle not that bad   December 20, 2007

I have this item and like it. Other handles might be a bit better. These do well in the dishwasher.
Some spatulas come in 2 pieces with a plastic handle. These can trap food particles..germs.

1 out of 5 stars Poor handle design   December 20, 2007

The handle is poor design. Just ask yourself if you would like this kind of handle on any other tool be it a hammer or a pizza cutter. If you would like a hammer with this type handle then you will love this spatula. Otherwise, take my advice and stay away from this type of handle
