This is a good machine May 17, 2007 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Don't be scared off by the negative reviews. While they do have some merit, most of those problems are from user error -- not the Avanti. In other words, these folks would have the same exact problems with different brands of kegorators. Let's go over a few issues:
1. Frozen beer. Can you freeze beer in an Avanti? Darn right you can. I've frozen two kegs. Guess what? Don't turn it to the level where it will freeze beer and at that point, you'll get nice, cold, draft beer. These people keep turning down the darn thermostat to the point where it freezes. And then, they buy another keg and repeat the same steps that led to the problem in the first place.
2. Foamy or "wild" beer: Is it a problem? Yep. But not just with Avanti. It's the same way with commerical keg dispensers too. Have you ever seen a bartender pour beer at a bar or restaurant? What is the first thing they do? They let the beer go into a drain first, because most of that liquid is mixed with high levels of CO2, which makes beer foam. The people complaining about this problem on the Avanti aren't taking this step. They don't want to waste a single drop of beer. Guess what kids? It's gonna foam up on you. I don't care how long the beer "line" is.
3. Another suggestion: Put your beer glasses and pitchers in the freezer to get cold first. This cuts down on foam, and makes the beer that much colder when it hits your lips.
4. The biggest problem with Avanti? Same with every other kegorator. Anheuser-Busch has stuck their fingers into the manufacturing of these things. Therefore, every kegorator on the market today fits the standard sized keg. What beer manufacturer does not use standard sized kegs? Coors. You got it kids. Buy any new kegorator, and it will not fit a Coors keg, not even a PONY Coors keg. But, this problem isn't limited to just Avanti. All of them are like this.
Overall, the Avanti is a GREAT buy. It's been well worth the money, but you need to understand how to pour beer first. Oh, and one final tip. When you put a keg in the Avanti? Do yourself a favor. LEAVE IT ALONE. You'll get nothing but foam if you try to tap it right away. Put it in the kegorator -- tap it -- turn on the CO2 and walk away for a day or two. This will help cool the beer down -- and clear away the foam.
avanti kegerator should be your last choice February 14, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
purchased this product in hawaii and experienced all the same problems as the other reviewers. To much foam, frozen beer or to warm beer, no in between. Due to my location returning for a refund not an option, only model available here at the present time, and shipping costs to much to order online. I was able to solve the temp problem with an external thermostat. $69.99 but customer support and continued production of a faulty product is a bad sign for the manufacturer. If you have a choice spend another 30 dollars or so and get a different manufacturer and model.
AVANTI BD6000 is a lemon January 11, 2007 First one - wouldn't cool beer down below 41 degrees without it going all the way to 20 degrees - froze my beer in the keg. Called Avanti service center, wouldn't answer the phone so I left a message - never returned my call. Returned unit for exchange at Best Buy - second one - same thing.... Returned for money back. Im going with the Haier when I find a good deal on one....

If you are looking for a home kegerator, please proceed to another company. I recently purchased this Avanti model and have had nothing but issues since I received it
1.) Door will not close! It seems that there is an issue with 1/2 barrel (full size kegs) and the bottom of the system. If you call Avanti, they will send a small metal rack to you to fix the problem, but what a hassle.
2.) Foam, foam foam
Expect nothing but foam from this system regardless of what you set the gas PSI to and the temperature of the beer. Avanti will admit that the problem is actually the 3/16 ID beer hose they send. It is too short! They supply you with a 3 foot hose, but you need at least 5 foot for proper foam dispersment
3.) standard tap handles will not fit! All those beautiful handles you see out their for sale will not fit the avanti. Why? Standard handles are threaded a 3/8 inch with a 1.5 pitch. Avanti uses metric!! 10mm 1.5 pitch. You're only solution is to take a steel plug tap and rethread your handles!
Absolutely the most horrible purchase I have ever made. Hindsight says spend the extra money and buy commercial grade
