great tasting tea for the cheap and lazy July 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This tea maker is MUCH better than my previous one. It works as easily as a coffee maker and makes great tasting tea. I can tell no difference in the taste using this versus the normal method of brewing tea for iced tea. Some people have complained about the quality of the glass pitcher - I agree it's a bit thin and I will no doubt break it eventually - but since you can use any glass pitcher with this machine I'm not too concerned about that.
Build quality overall seems a bit cheap, but it works as advertised. The sugar dispenser looks useful but since I don't make or drink sweet tea I can't review it as a feature. The loose leaf filter also looks useful but I have not tried it yet, instead I have just used regular tea bags.
I highly recommend this unit over any other tea maker (I've used several)
Fabulous iced tea March 1, 2008 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am a fanatical drinker of tea. My old iced tea maker just couldn't hold up and I ended up throwing the whole thing away once the pitcher went because it would have cost just about as much to buy a new pitcher as it was to buy a whole new unit. I then began scouring Amazon reviews to try to find the best option. Then, while shopping at Target one day, I saw this one and decided to give it a try.
The best feature, in my opinion, is the glass pitcher. I generally really dislike plastic because it tends to hold odors and tastes in. I have a glass blender for this very reason so I was thrilled to finally find an iced tea maker with a glass pitcher. The pitcher also holds more than the pitchers for most other iced tea makers.
My other favorite thing about the maker is the filter basket that it comes with in case you want to use loose tea. Though I do use bagged, I mostly use loose and my old iced tea maker required the use of coffee filters if I wanted to use loose tea in it. I really love that this one has a filter for this specific purpose and it can easily be removed if you'd rather use bags.
I've made about eight pots or so up to this point and I have no complaints. I'm glad I waited so long to purchase a new iced tea maker because this one is absolutely perfect for me.
