Product Description Features & SpecificationsVitaMix Turboblend 4500 Blender - Extremely versatile machine! This is the *new and updated* vitamix turboblend 4500! This has a BPA-Free, Eastman Tritan copolyester/chemical resistant container! Also a new healthy recipe booklet AND a 2-peak horsepower motor that runs substantially cooler temperature! The Vitamix Turbo-Blend 4500 is quiet possibly the most versatile, high powered, and well constructed blender on the market. The machine itself is actually pretty simple and to the point. It has a two speed motor (switches) and an on/off switch. While the cost on this blender is pretty high we feel that once you use this blender you areguaranteed to see and feel the difference. This comes with one of the most impressive recipe books that we offer here at 877MyJuicer. The addition of this recipe book certainly adds part of the value to this unit. The motor of this unit is so powerful yet so balanced that you don't even need to hold the base for dear life! Just push the button and let it do its thing! While the design seems simple, the functions are impressive:Make countless amounts of beverages! - 31 'Beverage' recipes in their cookbookMake an amazing array of soups that actually steam! - 14 'Soup' recipes in their cookbookMake sauces and dips/sauces! - 9 'Dips/Sauces' recipes in their cookbookMake baby foods/purees! - 12 'Baby foods / Purees' recipes in their cookbookMake dressings! - 10 'Dressings' recopies in their cookbookMake desserts! - 12 'Desserts' recipes in their cookbookMake juices!Make nut butters! Against The Odds August 25, 2007 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
Ok, so I bought this blender even though I read the previous review and didn't get a warm and fuzzy. I was tired of watching my old Oster bounce around on my counter in the morning trying to handle the fresh fruit smoothies I have come to depend on as a substitute for coffee. First I went out and purchased a brand new Kitchen-Aide and on my way out the door a guy told me how great his Vita-mix was. He said he'd had it for seven years and it never missed a beat. Seven years seemed like a good deal to me but I figured I'd save myself the extra $250.00 and try out the Kitchen-Aide. The first time I used it, it bounced around my counter much like my old Oster and I immediately took it back. I came home and went on line and ordered a new Vita-Mix. This thing is fantastic! If you've been using a standard home-version blender this will blow you away. It's about as sturdy as they come. No frills, just a liquefying monster. I haven't had it in high speed yet and I have been able to liquefy everything. A little noisy but it's heavy rotating machinery. Because the base is so heavy and solid it's actually quieter than both my previous machines but it's running about 200 MPH. If all you want to do is mix some items together occasionally this is probably more blender than you need but if you're an everyday user like me, it's well worth the investment. More comments to follow in seven years.
Product is OK when working but customer "service" is not May 23, 2007 20 out of 25 found this review helpful
We have a Vita Mix, the 5000 which is similar to the 4500, and it has been malfunctioning on and off since the first week. The product is great when it works, but when it doesn't I sure don't feel like it was worth almost $400.
Vita Mix customer "service" is a joke. The first time we called we were told both "you aren't using the product correctly" and "it is working the way it should". Hard for me to beleive that a $400 blender should thermally trip off and stay off for 20 minutes when chopping ice or frozen fruit for smoothies --- it's kinda what it was purchased for!
The second attempt at "service" we were told that the drive gear was probably bad, they would ship the part and I would have to replace it. I was told I could NOT return the item until this had been tried. Again, for $400, I don't expect to be servicing my own appliances.
