One of the most comforting sounds in the world is the bubbling of a coffee percolator at work. And then comes the toasty aroma--it makes for a perfect morning. Percolators have come back to home kitchens, and the Presto 12-cup stainless steel coffee maker is a prime example. Its elegant, hotel-style design brings a touch of luxury to what is for many a daily pleasure. This coffee maker brews up to twelve cups of coffee at a cup-a-minute rate, which it then keeps at a constant, piping-hot serving temperature. An indicator light in the base announces when the coffee is ready. The inner fixtures--the filter basket and perk tube--are also made of stainless steel, rather than the more common (and less durable) aluminum. The power cord is removable to make storage simple. Before cleaning the coffee maker, unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely. Wash the coffee maker with warm, sudsy water and dry it thoroughly; it is not immersible. To preserve the gloss of the stainless steel, do not use steel wool or harsh, abrasive cleansers. The perk spout and filter basket can be cleaned with a brush or pipe cleaner. If necessary, coffee stain remover can be used periodically on the interior surface. The coffee maker measures 10 by 5 by 13 inches (including handle, lid, and spout).  Best coffee EVER!!!! January 7, 2009
This coffee maker is everything the reviews said it is. It makes HOT coffee FAST. The coffee is rich and flavorful. We are from Southern Louisiana where coffee is expected to be strong and flavorful. This coffee maker does not disappoint. I've used Community brand coffee (Louisiana only I think) and World Market brand flavored coffee in it and they turn out fantastic. This coffee maker is all pros, no cons!!!!!!!!

We've owned our Presto for about 4 years now and love it....so when my parents' old percolator croaked and mom wanted a replacement, we didn't hesitate....I went straight to amazon.com and happily made the purchase, which was promptly delivered to them.
Our understanding is that both my parents are happily drinking great cups of hot coffee daily!!! Thank you Presto....

Best coffee I've ever had! January 6, 2009
I'm real picky about my coffee. I drink a lot of it and I want it to be the best possible. After going through many automatic drip coffee makers (Gevalia, Mr. Coffee, Black & Decker, etc.), it occured to me that some of the best coffee I ever had was made in a percolator. So I decided to buy one and, based on the reviews, I decided to try the Presto. Well, I haven't been disappointed.
The strengths include great taste, compact design, all stainless steel construction, doesn't shut off after two hours so you can keep some hot all day and doesn't taste bad until it's been sitting five hours, quick brewing. The weakness is that it doesn't have a timer; I compensate for this by getting it all set the night before and plugging it in as soon as I wake up. I will probably buy a timer at Home Depot, so I don't consider this a major drawback.
In summary, it's all about taste, and this coffee maker makes suberb tasting coffee!

Having had two drip coffee makers break this year (one lasted 3 months, the other about 6), we decided to go back to a percolator. The aroma is great and the coffee stays hot. There are a lot of grounds in the brew unless a paper filter is used, although the holes in the basket are very small. It's messier than the drip pots, but it is still working so I'm happy. Ground coffee that didn't taste right in the drip pot tastes pretty good perked.
Great coffee December 14, 2008
This is a great percolator. It takes longer to perk than my older Farberware but I'm hoping it LASTS longer. It's nice and streamlined and easy to clean. I like it lots!
