A great little appliance September 6, 2008 Based on reviews I read before purchasing, the product exceeds my expectations. Much better than the Salton yogurt maker I had in the 70s.It makes great yogurt in about 6 hours. Using organic milk, it costs about $2.00 for a batch compared to $7.00 to buy the yogurt. I didn't have any trouble with jars breaking, maybe the company has addressed that problem. I would definitely buy it again.
Great Yogurt, Great Price August 23, 2008 This is my second Salton Yogurt maker, and I am as happy with this one as I was with my first 30 years ago. Easy to use and makes great yogurt. I recommend this, and advise buyers to have a good thermometer on hand.
This machine is great February 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A very good machine for its price. This machine is compact and does it what it suppose to do.
salton yogurt maker mostly good February 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had fast delivery of the yogurt maker and it arrived intact. It is easy to use and makes very good yogurt. The self timer is really just a reminder for you that yogurt is finished at set time. There is no alarm so you still need to remember it. Also One of the glass containers broke for no apparent reason after the first use and I now need to use a half-pint jelly jar as the 7th jar. It actually works fine with saran wrap over the top. I've been using Dannon plain yogurt as a starter and it works OK but sometimes has slight lumps as you are not supposed to whisk your mixture. I have ordered some yogurt starter from the health food store and am eager to try as a comparison. Overall I like the Salton but can't quite give it 5 stars...
cups break easily January 29, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This product did a good job making yogurt. However, after I made my first batch, one of the cups shattered in my hands as I was opening it. As another reviewer said, I'm a small person, and I manage to use glass items all the time w/o breaking them, so I don't think it's me. I have returned this item and ordered a different yogurt maker. I would not recommend this item because the cups break so easily.
