Very good performance, very bad temperature January 7, 2009 The card is very good at performance, but it overheat like hell. try to get a XFX or BFG instead.
I like it December 9, 2008 I like this 9600GT. $100 thru amazon, the place I buy most of my stuff. If you have a low power power supply unit (PSU), below the 400w/24amp power supply for the vid card (recommended) the card comes with a splitter that will pull power from two rails ( two w/4 female connectors type plugs coming off the PSU) to provide adequate power, but I suggest you upgrade to a 500w PSU to maintain flexibility for past or future upgrades. Very simple to hook up and I am merely a journey man w/computers.
I have a duocore Intel (HP) with only 2.2 GHZ, 3 MB ram (ddr2) and a 7200 hard drive. My old windows scores were 3.0 overall: vid graphics of 3.0, system graphics of 3.9, now they are both 5.9! Overall sys rating is 4.7 due to memory speed (DDR3 would no doubt help, or a quadcore CPU, but you get what you pay for).
Get a GE Force 9600GT, unless you absolutely have to have the best, but I don't think throwing money at a vid card that is more expensive will provide a superior gaming experience for a couple of years!

Performance for a pittance. November 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This card is amazing, plug it in and go. I have a Dell Inspiron Vista Home premium with a stock 350w power supply. I thought it would not be enough but it works NO PROBLEM! For what its worth the card increased my Vista Experience index from a 5.5 to a overall 5.6. I mean every category is 5.9 but the Memory Ops is 5.6 and that lowers the total. My machine is a 2.4ghz quad core with 4gb of ram. Its like top of the line. It breaths new life into older games like Far Cry and after some adjusting FC2 (very high settings)60fps! looks pretty good too. I did have to up date the drivers but no biggie. I paid $83 including overnight shipping. "Folks Try My Product"?
O it looks nice November 7, 2008 Well its big but not as big as i thought it would be which is good any bigger it wouldn't fit in my case it fits in my inspiron 531 its a snug fit but i had to buy a new PSU my stock one dint have a 6 pin plug over all i would buy it again payed 101 for it
Best bang for the buck November 6, 2008 Words fail me! :-) (or I am just too lazy to write out my thoughts). This card is incredible. I have a 3 GHz AMD processor, with 4 GB RAM and 2x 250 GB SATA drives, running Vista Ultimate & Media Center. All of this is hooked up to my Panasonic Viera 42" Plasma. The output of DVDs from my computer to the TV is flawless, via this card. No skips, no jumps, no dropped frames, no problems at all! Works perfect.
