5 out of 5 stars Pinzon Bamboo Cotton Bath Towel   January 8, 2009
When we first opened the package, I could not believe how beautifully silky and soft these towels are. And they're really heavy - in a good, quality way.
There's a bit of a learning curve in getting used to these. They're so soft at first that when you're drying off, they slide against themselves (a "problem" solved after a few washings.) But I loved, loved, loved them!
That being said, I have sad news: our 14-year-old laundry diva found a way to harm these towels. Because they're so heavy, our front-loading machine had a hard time figuring out what it was supposed to do, spin-wise. Thinking the cycle was complete, "diva" put them in the dryer - but they weren't completely rinsed; there was still detergent in the fibers. Suffice it to say that the fibers curled up in a rather strange way from the combination of heat and un-rinsed-out detergent. The towels are still luxuriously heavy and absorbent, but unfortunately they are no longer silky soft.
Still, if you take reasonable care of these babies, you too will love them! I highly recommend you purchase a whole bunch of them.

5 out of 5 stars What more can be said?   January 6, 2009
If you've read these reviews, you already know everything. The towels are very soft. They absorb water off of your skin without feeling that they're actually drying you. When they're wet, they're heavy. It's still just a towel though, so if you're having trouble lifting it, you're either old or need to get to the gym quickly. They also take longer to dry. But man are they nice! ;)

This is probably the only type of towel I'll buy from now on.

5 out of 5 stars I love these towels!!   December 20, 2008
These towels are so soft and fluffy and wonderful! I highly recommend them. They have also thus far getting that mildewy smell that is so common to towels in Hawaii. Definitely worth the price!

3 out of 5 stars Heavy, slow to dry, easy to snag - also silky and luxurious.   December 20, 2008
I whole heartedly agree with the review by "memery" and I am puzzled that most Amazon reviewers have not observed how long these towels actually take to try. They are consistently the last items out of my dryer and always take extra cycle time. Memery did not mention the ease with which these towels can snag on any sharp object like the rough edge of a fingernail. This leaves a permanent line in the weave. I have four each of bath, hand and wash cloth sizes. I feel that stating that these towels dry quickly is gross exaggeration and yet much of the advertising makes this claim. The towels, in having a silky and luxurious feel, also are very slippery, and can slide off things, including you; this is enhanced by the heavy weight of the towels. The absurd washing instructions prohibiting hot water and bleach make me wonder if our friends at Pinzon are totally in touch with their market. All this said - I did keep these towels, which were back ordered and took many, many weeks to arrive. Next time I will stay with a tried and true competing 100% cotton towel instead of this slick bamboo material.

2 out of 5 stars Warning! Should be sold with companion towel warmer!   December 14, 2008

We hung these gorgeous towels in our bathroom where they looked beautiful and hung ever so luxuriously!

However, after using them we realized they NEVER seem to dry completely, remaining damp for days. Also, we found that these towels always absorb the ambient air temperature which is 20 to 30 degrees colder than you will be as you step out of a hot shower!

We have started to drip dry standing naked in our bathroom under the heat lamp - it takes less time and is more comfortable.

Our solution was to purchase a towel warmer. However, this only warms one towel at a time, so when my wife and I are bathing at the same time, only one of us is going to get to use the warmer. That leaves the other, usually me, standing naked under the heat lamp!
