hard to say... October 15, 2008 I have 2 cats from the same litter: one male, one female, both 12 years old and both "fixed." They have always had personality conflicts so there is occasional fighting. It is tiresome, but not critical. Lately, the male has been marking. I say it loosely because sometimes it is downright peeing on the rug or carpet. I know because I watched him do it several times! I googled the problem and saw the raves about Feliway (and some not-so raves) and the added benefit of calm kitties. It was worth a shot for the frustration I was going through. My spouse was ready to toss the cat out! I bought 2 diffusers to cover the main rooms where the problems were. Within two hours, he seemed calm and lazy, but then went right ahead and peed right in front of me, the bugger! After that, I went out and bought a second litter box. We had no problems after that. About 3 weeks later, I noticed him looking frustrated (weird connection to the cat, I know) and I saw the Feliway was empty. I was very nervous because I couldn't tell if he was reacting to the pheremones, or lack of them at this point, and would start to act up again. We monitered him for two days while he stayed frustrated and thankfully, no issues. Today, he was the happiest cat ever, so I have no clue what his deal was. I don't think the Feliway really helped in this case. We discovered that the female was not squatting while peeing and leaving her scent in the inside of the box lid, so we thought him having his own box was the solution we found accidentally....hopefully.
Ugh. Doesn't work. October 12, 2008 I wish it did. The rate of cat spraying in our house didn't increase or decrease with the use of this product. It was a total waste of money.
It really does work!!! October 8, 2008 I have 4 cats. Three and are very social and one older cat that I have had for 8 years wasn't liking the fact that I brought 3 additional cats into my home. She was becoming very unsocial, she seemed to be stressed out and we were have problems with her urinating in places other than her litter box. I took her to the vet to be sure she didn't have any medical issues. The vet recommended Feliway. The change is unbelieveable. She has become more social, she seems to be more relaxed. and the urinated has stopped.
Not worth the price of shipping! October 1, 2008 I had high hopes for this stuff. The only thing it did was smell up the room! It did not reduce my cat's stress. In fact, I saw absolutely no change in him. Not worth the price of shipping!
I wish we had known about this earlier September 29, 2008 we have a 5 year old kitty who is usually on his best behavior. In the past year he has gotten in the habit of waking us up every morning at 4am and peeing outside the litter box.
We started to lock him out of the room, but that wasn't working so well.
We got this gadget and in the past 2 weeks we have noticed a significant difference in our cat's behavior. He is back to his old self. he doesn't wake us up, is more calm, and so far (knock on wood) no peeing.
