The Vinum series is the world's first line of machine-made glasses formed specifically to suit varietal characteristics. Crafted to exacting standards, the glasses are 24-percent lead crystal with a beautifully balanced feel. They offer the taste-enhancing benefits of Riedel's hand-formed glasses without the top-shelf expense. The striking height, elongated bowl, and relatively narrow mouth of these Vinum glasses are a fitting venue for the blackberry aromas and long sweet finish of Syrah wines. Ideal for balancing Syrah's tannins with its fruit, the glass is also suitable for Amarone, Blaufrankisch, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Grenache, Hermitage Rouge, Malbec, Mourvedre, Pinotage, and Shiraz. Really makes a difference! February 2, 2008
I was skeptical that a wine glass could make such a difference in how a wine tastes, but after attending a demonstration sponsored by Riedel and a Napa Valley winery (Trefthen Family Vineyards) I became a true believer.
My only reservation that prevents me from giving a 5 star rating is the price. I've been told that other companys offer similar glasses but a mouch lower price (25% to 50% of the cost of a Riedel glass).
