The new Columbia line combines stunning elegance of form with the best materials for perfect function. The double-walled stainless steel thermal press keeps your coffee or tea hot for more wake-up calls than you'll ever need.

Amazon.com Review
Ideal for home or office, this French press coffeemaker doubles as an insulated thermos so coffee stays hot and fresh for up to two hours. The pot holds 34 ounces (1 liter), nearly seven 5-ounce cups, and can be used for brewing tea as well as coffee. It's made of stainless steel polished to a mirror-finish, has a large, comfortable handle, and is dishwasher-safe. The lid seals in heat remarkably well and turns to prevent heat from escaping through the spout between pours. The pot stands 8-1/2 inches high, including the plunger top. --Fred Brack

3 out of 5 stars Elegant but no better than the $20 glass version   January 4, 2009
I've used french presses for years. But this news junkie wants more than one cup in the morning and the second cup from a regular press is disappointingly lukewarm. (Nuking it destroys the flavor!) I thought this sleek-looking stainless version might do the trick instead of shifting coffee to a thermos right after making it in the glass press. The claim this press will keep coffee hot for 2 hours is simply preposterous, but I'd take even a half hour. This pretty little gizmo truly doesn't keep the coffee any hotter than a glass carafe, even when you pre-warm it. At $80 it flat out should be a miracle, since you can get a top of the line thermos for less than that. My advice? Save your money and get a regular press.

1 out of 5 stars Bad thremal properties   December 25, 2008
This press does not keep the coffee warm for very long. The moment you pour hot contents into the press one can feel the outside of the press heat up. Worthless thermal properties I was replacing a older insulated press and it kept coffee at a drinkable temp for hours. This bodum kept my Christmas morning coffee at a drinkable temp for about 20 minutes. It's barely better than my other glass bodum. Don't buy if keeping coffee hot for any period time is important.

5 out of 5 stars Stainless stell press is wonderful   December 22, 2008
We bought this rather pricey press because we had spent so much money on glass ones, only to replace the carafe two to three times a year. This press is very high quality, light weight and quite beautiful. It makes two large or three regular-size mugs, and keeps the coffee hot. The only potential issue you might have is with the "thermal" part. It only keeps the coffee hot for a couple hours, so you can't make it in the morning and drink it throughout the whole day. That works fine for us, but if you're looking for a thermal carafe that keeps your drink hot for hours on end, you should probably buy something that does just that job. But for two people who get up at different times, or to put on the table with brunch or dessert, it is quite pretty and works really well. And if you're like me and always breaking your glass carafe, it's also VERY cost effective!

1 out of 5 stars Beware. Made in China.   December 12, 2008

We bought this coffee press expecting that it was made in France. Upon receipt we found that it is made in China. The pot portion looks fair but the lid is of very low quality and it does not seal well. I would not recommend this to anyone. Chinese made products are not safe and often contain toxic materials. We will return it and look for a non Chinese made product to replace it. Buyer beware.

A definite MUST-HAVE if you are into coffee. I am a certified barista and this will give you a great cup of coffee as compared to most commercially-prepared coffees sold by the coffee-shop chains especially if the barista in question doesn't know what they are doing which is quite often.

Better to make the investment in something like this as opposed to the glass coffee-press although this will not KEEP the coffee HOT indefinitely as per other reviewers.
