Product Description Poet and painter Prartho Sereno opens the door to a magical world hidden inside our most ordinary one, the kitchen. Here you will meet a cast of characters both whimsical and wise. The Whisk is a whirling dervish; the Slotted Spoon understands the sorcery of tears. The Spatula knows the alchemy of turning work to play. And then there are others who mirror our struggles and coax out compassion: The Dinner Fork is an incurable dreamer; the Soup Spoon can't help but give everything away. The Pickle Fork is heartbroken over the Iced Tea Spoon's cold shoulder. Twenty-six watercolor paintings to inspire and delight. Twenty-six poems to help us slow down and listen deep. As accessible as the utensils it celebrates, Causing a Stir will fold humor and wonder back into your days.

A Nimble Romp through the Kitchen January 3, 2009 " Causing a Stir" causes quite a stir! It's lyrical, thoughtful, and very celebratory. It whisks you away into a magical world of adventurous teaspoons and sentimental pickle forks. We've happily given this book to culinary wizards and those who love to devour words as well.
Local - to me - author & artist October 23, 2008 Read an interview in local paper about this. Went to the bookstore to check it out. Went online to purchase - slightly cheaper. Makes a GREAT gift.
Simply A Book To Savor! July 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a delight for anyone who has ever saved tableware from their family down through generations. I still use serving pieces from my Nana's kitchen that she brought from England over 102 years ago & from my Bocha who carried her basic kitchen tools in a satchel from Poland when she immigrated to America long ago.
I have my copy next to the napkin holder so that when a friend sits down for tea, they open the pages ...begin to read and smile. This is a keeper AND a gift book for all folks who love to cook.
