| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review The Artful Pie marries food with art in an original way. Lisa Cherkasky, a cook and food stylist, created the book's 36 recipes. With Renee Comet, she commissioned 36 works of art. Then she and Comet, a food photographer, paired each pie with one of the artworks. You may enjoy the color spreads where the pies decorate or interact with the art or you can skip right to the often-original pie recipes. Some are elemental, like Fresh Peach Pie. Others are creative, but still simple, including Maple Sugar and Cream, and Upside Down Fried Pear. A few are production numbers. Sweet Cheese and Raspberry, and Chocolate Caramel Hazelnut Pies look worth the effort.
Product Description Called "pleasing to both palate and palette" by the Washington Post, this enticing collection of sophisticated yet easy-to-make recipes is now available for the first time in a large format paperback edition. Each of the 38 pies in the book is a mixture of inspiration and convention: Cool Lime Pie with Tequila, Ultrasmooth Chocolate Malted Pie, Apple Butter Apple Pie, Butter-Brickle Banana Cream Pie. Each one has been strikingly photographed against a background of art created esecially for the book.

One of my favorite cookbooks October 27, 1999 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
The book is beautiful to look through, and every recipie so far has been a winner. The addition of various liquors and wines, and the creative mixtures of ingredients and crusts give these pies a unique and wonderful taste.
