Product Description The cupcake is America’s darling. It’s celebrated in upscale bakeries, on Sex in the City, on the cover of Gourmet, and in thou-sands of classrooms—where every day, it seems, a parent has sent in a batch for the kids to share. The very word conjures up whimsy, coziness, pleasure, nostalgia. Not to mention the fact that their diminutive size means you can eat a lot of them.
Once upon a time, a family had only two recipes for cupcakes—chocolate and vanilla. Not anymore. Now Anne Byrn brings them to the next level. And who better? Recognized as the master of cake-mix baking, Anne is the author of The Cake Mix Doctor and Chocolate from the Cake Mix Doctor, which have a total of over 1.8 million copies in print. In Cupcakes she offers 135 tempting recipes for children and grown-ups, for special days and everyday, lunch bags, holiday festivities, and an unexpected dinner party dessert. You’ll never believe these artful little cakes started with a mix. Coconut Snowballs, Jelly Doughnut Cupcakes, Kiss Me Cakes, Warm Chocolate Cupcakes with Molten Centers, Red Velvet Cupcakes with White Chocolate Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting. There are surprising additions (tuck a chocolate kiss orpiece of cookie dough into the batter). Creative toppings and easy from-scratch frostings (whipped cream spiked with Kahlua; miniature M&Ms; a creamy malted frosting with crushed malted milk balls).Terrific decorating ideas, from glittering golden dragees or elegant chocolate curls to yellow peeps for an Easter cupcake or—for Groundhog’s Day—a groundhog’s face made out of chocolate frosting and jimmies. Includes a 16-page full-color opening essay.

YUMMMMMMMY...... June 9, 2008 Love this book....I have tired 4 receipes so far...and each one has gotten great reviews from my family and friends....I keep telling everyone that I plan on becoming the Cupcake Queen.... The receipes are easy to follow and make and it sure does help when you have a Kitchen Aid Artisan....baking has become so easy...I plan on making some more this weekend for Father's Day, the only negative side of this is that I wish there were more pictures other than that, great book, great receipes...is Vol. 2 coming out soon????
Great book...needs more pictures! May 20, 2008 I love this book and all of the tasty semi-homemade treats inside, but it is lacking in pictures. Some of the cupcakes require a little decorating & even though there are some pictures, there aren't pictures of many of the decorative ones. Still a great buy though!
Cupcakes galore! April 9, 2008 Just like her other Cake Doctor books this one is excellent. I love how easy all the recipes are. Even if you don't follow her exact recipes she explains how she adapts them so you can come up with your own ideas. One note...fruit pie in a cupcake shape is not a cupcake;)
Cupcakes: From the Cake Mix Doctor March 2, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cupcakes: From the Cake Mix Doctor; I love this book as I do the Cake Mix Doctor and the Dinner Doctor. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is pictures - the Cake Mix Doctor has pictures of every cake. I like to see a finished color picture. In the book she talks about taking cupcakes in shirt boxes - not if you have the Oneida Cupcake Holder. I bought both - it was the right thing to do.
Awesome Cupcakes!!! February 19, 2008 Most cookbooks only have like 5 recipes I use in them but not this one. The Cake Doctor has impressed me with delicious recipe after recipe. She also gives great little tips to use. My favorite recipe so far in this book is the Red Velvet Cupcakes with White Chocolate Peppermint Cream Cheese frosting, it is out of this world! I have also made some deep chocolate cupcakes and put half an Andes peppermint in the middle and then topped it with the White Chocolate Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting, yummy. Another good recipe, especially for kids is her Cinnamon Toast Cupcakes with Cinnamon Cream Cheese frosting, very yummy. If you love to bake I highly recommend this cookbook.
