"Addicted" to Prescription Drugs - Suicide and Lawsuits November 23, 2008 This book is very hard to get through without getting mad. There is some dangerous advice in it. There is good in it, but it needs one more paragraph. It's obvious that DeMoss encourages the reader to become free from addiction to prescription drugs, and count on Biblical solutions to spiritual problems. The author should be much more clear that this must be a process overseen by a DOCTOR, and not an instant victory by suddenly stopping the meds. She should include a bold and obvious WARNING about the danger of suddenly going off your antidepressant/anxiety medications. Consequences can be very seriously medically and psychologically. Doctors and the drug labels do not always state this clearly. There is a strong possiblity of suicide during the withdrawal period. Or, the person may feel judged as an unspiritual failure if the meds have to be readministered. There is a several week "lag" period before the meds begin to work again after stopping them completely. During this time there would be a suicide risk. Miss DeMoss, haven't you considered the legal consequences of your advice? Tell all your friends, people, do this only under a doctor's supervision!
Very hard pill to swollow October 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is very informative, however, there were many times I was ready to throw this book against the wall. I did this study with my Baptist church's small group. I am a pretty liberal Christian, so I disagreed with several points. However, once I got over my initial strong negative feelings towards Nancy's views, I came to understand what she was trying to say. This provided for some heated discussions and really was one of the best small group studies I've ever been apart of, if for the debating if nothing else.

This book is highly recommended for all women of any age to build their foundation.
I Love this study. I'm leading a group of 10 women of whom are over 40 years old and we are now learning some of the basic truths that are setting us free. These are actual lies that we've believed.
I like how the chapters are laid out with the "Nutshell" in the beginning & the lies and truths at the end along with a prayer.
This layout of the study has truly made my job easy as this flows so well.
DEFINATELY MUST READ...LIFE CHANGING!! October 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was amazed to see that there were negative reviews on this book. Like another review said...I can't imagine reading this book and not have it change your life! I have never wanted to finish a book so quickly...I was so eager to continue reading from the very begining. This was so freeing for me to recognize that so many of my negative thoughts are from the enemy. The enemy doesn't want us to know the truth...and will do anything in his power to succeed...he feeds on our insecurities and makes us think we are the way we are and that's that. This book is eye opening to Gods word...His Truth...and the reality of the enemy. I believe if anyone has a problem with this book...it's because they have unresolved issues that they are holding on to and haven't given those issues over to God yet. Pray before you read it that you will have an open heart and mind to learn what God wants you to. I told all of my friends about this book and I hope it continues down the line.
