Bella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Bella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Bella, the person Edward holds most dear.
Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

A little reluctant. October 16, 2008 I have to admit considering I have a fantasy/sci-fi book addiction I tried to avoid this series all together. Well two days ago I finally gave in to one of the most endearing stories. I loved this book and I can't wait to read New Moon. Considering I read Twilight in one night I will be done with this series before I know. Although it is not as intellectual and not as detail as other novels of the genre. Well it is suppose to me for young adults. The story gets to the point and I loved every page turn. Not just a young adult novel, this book can be enjoyed by anyone who loves a good story. A little romance doesn't hurt either.
Great Book October 15, 2008 This is a great story about vampires as well as the power of love. I bought this book and the other 3 books in the Twilight Saga and finished them in 8 days. That is how captivating the story is. Everyone that has every been in love or is wanting to find love, will be swept away into the world of all the Twilight characters that Stephenie Meyer has created for us. This truly is a GREAT book (and series)!!!!!
Its not Shakespeare but..... October 15, 2008 I admit I didn't want to actually purchase this book because I had heard one of two things..A)Best book ever written or B)Most waste of time ever written. In actuality the book isn't half bad, yes there is an overuse of the word "perfect" and yes the main character "Bella" does have a preoccupation with distancing herself from everyone. Compared to most of the "rich girls with to much money being biatchy to each other" YA litature out there, it is something different. I think the thing to remember is that this is not Interview with a Vampire people, it is a collection of books written for the under 16 set, its not meant to make statements or change lives. I think it harkens back a lot to the "Angel/Buffy" romance (though Angel MUCH HOTTER then Edward). The main issue I had with the writer is that she rips alot off from the "Roswell" series, including the whole "I saved your life even though now my whole family may be in trouble" and the "4 beautiful siblings that dont eat or sleep". This is what happens when a single mom in England writes a killer series, now every housewife in America thinks their the next Bronte.
Could have been so much more October 15, 2008 Going to the bookstore I noticed a HUGE display of the Stephanie Meyer's series and it definitely caught my eye. I bought the book to give it a shot. I wasnt aware that it was a young adult book or that it had such a devoted following. My views were purely impartial, but i had mixed feelings. My first problem with the book is the fact that it is told thru the perpective of Bella, which means we the reader miss everything she misses. Everything she doesnt understand, doesnt hear, doesnt see, we are in the dark as well. This just leaves too many holes in the story. I think that was a seriously wrong move on the writers part. Second, the repetiveness of the same emotions, thoughts and concerns got tiring. I felt i was reading a book written by a very talented 16 year old. Lastly, the love story was not deep enough to be believable. Was there a deeper connection other than she being captivated by his good looks and he being drawn to her because her blood is especially alluring to him? Although this book did have lots of problems for me, I did enjoy lots of elements that left me wishing it was written better. I LOVED the side characters of the story. Alice, Jasper and Emmett were fantastic characters and I wanted MORE! I still do. Even though I didnt think that Edward and Bella were truly in love, I did enjoy their interaction on those romantic moments. I cant help but think that the same characters and same storyline in the hands of a better writer would have been a fantastic book.
Best book ever! October 15, 2008 Completely captivating and makes you want to read the whole thing in one sitting. Love the series, although this is by far the best of the bunch!
