I love all the Chicken Soup books. My kids enjoy making and eating the food they made from the recipes. The recipes are easy to follow for my 5 and 14 year old.
Fun for the whole family! January 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What a wonderful way to have some fun family time in the kitchen. This book is great for teaching your young children how to cook. Easy, simple recipes that kids love. It's great to see both of my children actually interacting in the kitchen while they learn! My daughter's favorite recipe is Cookies 'n Creme Fudge and my son's favorite is Spaghetti Pie. . . . you'll just have to try them! The kids love to see the photos throughout the book of children cooking--it shows that cooking CAN be fun! Thank you Chicken Soup, for creating another inspirational book.

Now, I do not think I am objective; one of the stories in there, " My First Cooking Lesson" is mine. I have reviewed this book and love the layout, fun recipies, and other sweet stories. It is a book that will endure for many generations. Chicken Soup for the Soul Kids in the Kitchen: Tasty Recipes and Fun Activities for Budding Chefs (Chicken Soup for the Soul)
My Kids are Cooking for me for a Pleasant Change October 15, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As a recent widow / single mother of 2 boys I can't tell you what a difference this book has made for me and my family! We "vote" on who gets to cook what meal / snacks etc. The kids pick out their recipes, love to get the groceries and cook. I didn't think this was even possible. Fast food has a new meaning now. Very tasty and easy to make. My 9 year old wants to read ... loves food, the stories and I hear him laughing at the cute jokes. He's been failing reading at school, so this has been a pleasant surprise for both of us. It reminded me of all the great times I've had in the kitchen with my mother and my grandparents who used to can "for the winter" and "survive" from their garden. It's brought back so many great memories for me and the importance of eating together as a family (however broken it might seem). Like a piece of the puzzle that was missing. The pictures and the clever little way the authors weave their stories into each recipe is amazing. There are games, and even recipes for camping out... another thing this broken family needed! If they only knew what a difference they were making. I recommend this to anyone, even those "hard of cooking" as a way to bring themselves and their families back to oneness. Tears welling in my eyes.... Can't wait for the next book. I know what I'm giving everyone for Christmas now. Carrie Albright (and getting brighter - thanks to you)!
